Its unfortunate that this is split 50/50, it would be nice with a clear consensus is all. I had my heart set on 2k, made a dope list, and now its up to a split community lol

I've made a 1k and a 2k list, because I am just excited to play again. If it came down to an actual coin toss, I'd be fine with that too.
I like having all my toys on the table in a 2k game, but I also think it's cool when I can actually play all 5 turns within the time limit.
I also wonder if Beasts might be OP at 1k. Ok, maybe OP is a bit of a stretch, but their summoning certainly becomes more valuable.

I've never done something like this before... but I was thinking... what if it was 2k per side... but you could either enter the tourney as a one person 2k list OR a team of two people with 1k lists? You could either win as an individual or team... I mean it's not like our prizes are set to who wins, it's all draw prizes anyways? When you pay an entry fee, it's each individual player who's attending anyways... as 100% of the entry fees go towards prizes. The community is straight up split as to what they want anyways... so why not give them both? I'd have a 2k list ready as ringer, and that would solve the problem of potential odd numbers. Am I just being crazy here or could this work?

Named everyone, gave them body guard units, etc. I'm fine with waiting until a 2k happens, but that idea sounds fun!!

Well it certainly sounds insane. But it's a friendly tournament, with a bunch of new players, so I don't see why not? If the TO is cool with all the extra logistics, I certainly wouldn't mind playing the games. It's not like we're going to see a bunch of instances of "ok, I'll bring 6 longstrikes, and a pair of dragons, and you bring as many gore gruntas as you can fit in a list."
I'd probably sign up as a single 2k list, just because it removes the awkwardness of trying to find a partner, and then coordinating with them.

My list has 0 shooting, except for my Lord celestants on dracoth, no fulminators and 0 monsters 😍 I made a very thematic, "Guardians of the Glade" army, forest themed from Ghur. Alot of animals and fast maneuvers!! I was just hoping to slap my full roster on the table.

Am I just being crazy here or could this work? I think a hybrid tournament sounds like a fantastic time. To be honest it's kinda what I was hoping for since you first suggested it. And it sounds like everyone likes the idea. For a casual/beginner friendly tournament it's the best of all worlds. And these days the fairly robust keyword system means it's no simple feat to break the game by just combining two armies. So the next question would be ironing out the last couple kinks for list construction. I assume the team will need to play by consensus as a single team for stuff like activations, and selecting a single over-general, battle tactic per turn and grand strategy for scoring. As was mentioned before 3 battleline across both lists. I was going to suggest letting both 1k player have their own full enhancements minus probably the free triumph, just because in general the lack of cross-faction synergies (especially if your partner's units always count as allies or friendly and thus not an eligible target for most buffs/auras) will probably put them behind a cohesive 2k list.

Now this all sounds mind blowingly fun! I believe everyone is aiming for the best case scenario, and to have as much fun as possible. So imo, however people want to make their 1k/1k lists work is fine and dandy. I dont expect people to try and steam roll a beginners tourney, that would push people AWAY from all this! Let's try and have some new people wet their toes and decide if they want more plastic crack haha

This sounds like a wicked idea. If I can bring out my rogue idol again, I'm a happy Orruk.

alright... apparently I'm not crazy... or if so, I'm in good company so this is what we'll do. Mike was asking me for the setup already for the tourney, so I'll get something together, get it to Mike for posting and getting the signup sorted, and then we'll make it happen!

Would the players who decide to do teams have to do the same grand alliance? For instance if I want to run lumineth but my partner only has gloomspite would that work?
If so worst case scenario I can play my ogors again I just really want to try these elves.

I can't imagine that being a restriction. The only argument for single grand alliance would be the lore, and even GW ignores that, if it stands in the way of doing something cool.

I see no issue, they've gathered together, to win the day 😍 all alliances are welcome

I figured it wouldn't be an issue just wanted to be sure my buddy knows somewhat what he's doing just isn't confident enough to do an event on his own yet so this is perfect
