Was curious what people do to store their collections at home, and if they have any suggestions for where to buy storage furnishings here in Kingston. My forces are outgrowing their allocated spaces in my existing shelves so I'm planning to add something just not sure what yet.

I have 3 freestanding display towers for mine. For items I can't accommodate, I rotate them out to aluminum technical cases. The display towers were all second hand so thrift stores, kijiji, maxsold, etc.. The tech cases came from Canadian Tire when they were on sale.

Tell us more about having those extra shelves installed in the ikea cabinet. Mine is quite full, and space in my apartment is limited.

I use metal rope clips, which fit around the supports, and got extra shelves cut by oomen's glass in town. Used some chicago screws to give a little extra support (in case the shelf slips or gets bumped so it has a bit more holding it up) by screwing them on the end of the rope clip. Put those felt furniture sticky things on the bottom of the shelf where it would hit the metal of the clip/screw.
It's a little tedious to do it... but it works really good, and you can easily expand it to a six shelf system with lots of room.
