I was talking to BTG on the forums about a theme for the next event and the idea of a great crusade event was floated but a lot of armies don't have any or they are really big characters, such as slaves to darkness really just having Archaon and Belakor. But this article popped up. www.warhammer-community.com/2022/04/08/the-anvil-of-apotheosis-returns-and-weve-used-it-to-forge-a-krule-new-hero/Where you create a character with a set amount of destiny points. I don't think they would have an actual points value for typical games but what if we set an event at like 1000 points and everyone gets 20 destiny points to create a character on top of their army and this character must be your army general. I do realize this requires everyone to have access to these rules but I am sure the internet can help provide these rules for us. What do people think of this? Or am I out to lunch with this idea?

I think it's a cool concept... just goes to the accessibility aspect for the rules which we don't want to encourage poaching given nexus sells this book

I understand the concerns about poaching the rules, but I think this is a cool concept that we certainly could explore to try and make it work. This newest book has updated rules for the Anvil of Apotheosis, but the original rules - in full - are available in the 2020 General's Handbook. The only this this is missing is the statblock for Kruleboyz, but GW has provided that in the article on WarCom. Given that the original ruleset is two years out of date (with a new General's Handbook probably coming this summer), would it be worth exploring that as we're not taking business away from the shop? There's also a barebones hero creator based on those 2020 rules I found here: aoshero.com. Again, not sure what the solution here is, but I think this is cool and for sure it's worth discussing.

Yep, it's certainly worth discussing for sure, and I do think it's a cool concept... we just have to make sure everyone has access to the relevant rules, or it would create a barrier to attendance.
if there are publications or online tools already in existence that can facilitate this, I'm all in.

I mean.... What about using Underworlds sets as the Generals? Most of them include a potential general for most factions.
Sure, they're not great, but that can add to the challenge of list-building, or just lead to more flavourful lists.
