Hey Everyone
Just curious what other people feel when it comes to buying used models. Do you prefer that they are painted or do you prefer that they are unpainted. I have my opinion but i was curious to know what the community feels like from a whole.

I prefer unpainted as I have come to hate stripping models, but that's just me

Stripping paint isn't my favourite thing to do, but I've been known to put in the extra effort if the discount was deep enough.
Buying an entire army with a scheme I liked and was sure I could reproduce when I inevitably wanted to add more units, is about the only scenario where I'd consider buying painted, and not stripping it all off.

Definitely prefer unpainted. Painted models are fine in a pinch, but the discount has to be pretty steep for me.

I'm willing to buy painted and strip it myself to get a bonkers bargain basement price or get my hands on something that is hard to acquire all the correct bits and pieces for, or something OOP I specifically want.
But otherwise bare plastic (or primer only if it's been done well) is my normal standard.

The quality of the models and the paint job (and the difficulty of stripping it) all factor into what I'm willing to pay. Obviously the newer the better, and if mini is just caked in paint I'm not gonna pay much, but I am not really put off by the hassle of 'rescuing' miniatures.
A ton of my space marines are rescues - the deathwing terminator force I brought to Club Champs were really beat up in need of a ton of stripping, filing, green-stuffing and other TLC to bring up to my tabletop standard. Just a mess of wood glue and craft paint, but today I'm quite happy with how they look. Some of my favourite models.

it depends for me, if it's a full fledge collection of an army and the paint scheme is good ill keep it and maybe update it but if it's really bad and not pleasing ill strip it, me personally I like to try to buy NOS due to the weird way how I paint, but I'm not one to shy away from stripping models either

Overall I prefer unpainted and will pay more for less work. Like others, if the price is REALLY good I will consider a painted piece. Otherwise it needs to be something I have been having issues acquiring in order to buy painted.
