This is a good first step for certain, and should blunt a bit of the GT dominance these last couple weeks: www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/MlX8DsXkD19YhnUE.pdfSome key points: No double heavy venom cannon Hive Tyrant (as expected) Encircle the prey strat is used at the end of the movement phase now so is limited to once / turn Hive Nexus is now CORE only - no unlocking Maleceptor psychic actions (limits the amount of mortal wounds it can do) Power of the Hive Mind is now CHARACTER only, can't be used for an extra Maleceptor cast (again reigning in the mortals) Maleceptor's psychic action counts as a cast when under it's own imperative (so one less chance to do mortals) Effectively you now get up to two psychic overloads per turn Synapse is now an AURA - so abilities to shut down auras can stop Synapse!

That sounds exactly like the surgical changes you were hoping for. I'm glad they didn't nerf bat the whole codex for a few pieces the design team overlooked.

Wow. That's some laser-guided-scalpel precision there. Hits the main offenders directly in the junk without nerfing them into the ground.
I think Maleceptor and Harpy will have to come back off the shelf for testing purposes again....

Tyranid are going to hate fighting Morty and his stinky compadres yep... this is one of those rulings that at first doesn't seem that bad... but then you think of the things that can now shut off synapse and it's going to be a hard slog against them. Because no synapse means no chaining powers... no immunity to morale, no synaptic imperatives...

In the case of Thousand Sons and Eldar you can only cast a single psychic power after attempting a psychic action, regardless of how many casts the psyker in question has - Tyranids were able to perform 2-3 casts on a Maleceptor, and do its psychic action in addition.
A good change, although they still have the best version of this ability bar none.

Synapse is now an AURA - so abilities to shut down auras can stop Synapse! Well this only stops, Automatically passing moral test. Cause that is what synapse is. synaptic imperative is a separate thing. And states that they are not affected by rules that affect aura abilities. Synaptic link is attached to the keyword synapse not the ability.
