Got a complete set of Battle for Skull Pass and am going to keep it intact.
If'n anyone ever wants to play some classic Dwarves vs. Gobbo action (when I get it assembled) I would love to fart around with this old kit.

I'd be down to push some square bases around. I've also got considerable reinforcements for both factions.

Awesome sauce! I will be able to expand on the Gobbo-half, when I am ready to get in to bigger games.

The more I look in to the rules for WHFB, the more I think it is closer to the game experience that I am looking for, maybe?
AoS has been far more accessible than 40k 9th and the games have been good, but the pace of WHFB sounds far more my speed. Not being in a rush to get through the game is a big mood, for me.

Can you elaborate on why you think it'll be more up your alley? I had heard that near the end, fantasy had become really bloated and bogged down. That may have been a different edition however. I have no idea what edition the Skull Pass set is from.

If we ever find the time, I'd be down to play a 5 hour, 2k game of AoS with you.
I'm definitely about a slower pace. Then I realize I got to the game store 2.5 hours ago and I'm only on turn 2, haha.

Regimental combat and the movement trays seems to solve one big problem I have: positioning and moving hordes of minis. ("So why not use movement trays in 40k and AoS?" Because of melee and needing to abuse the Charge and Combat phase's movement rules, which is a *lot* of tedius bullshit that will drastically reduce my potential if I do not abuse those rules. It is anti-fun, for me)
I have been looking in to 6th edition - as it seems to be the edition folks are playing. Battle for Skull Pass is 7th and I am investing as much in to those rules as is needed to play the scenario provided wkth the set, whicj I intend to keep intact. I am not opposed to trying 9th Age or Kings of War, as I hear good things about the rules but do not know many folks who play it.
Really, the edition or game I play will come down to finding people to play with. (Which is one resson 40k is as pppular as it is - there is a community to play with...)
Honestly, I do not know a lot about these games and struggle to learn the rules and they will likely be as frustrating as any other game I try to play and, if I were smart, I would give up on trying to play games and make friends and just focus on my own little world of painted plastic and pewter and save the community ftom my toxic bullshit.

I use movement trays with my AOS vampires army. Moving 60 zombies and 20 skeletons is a pain without them.
Terrain Genesis is where I got them... they're all in formation and you can buy them for whatever base size you need. Plus they're designed thin enough that if you do magnetized bases like me, it still secures it to the metal shelf right through the movement tray.
6th edition WHFB was a fun edition... things started to slide about half way through 7th edition, and balance got thrown out the window. 8th edition became a hot mess that gutted the local fantasy community (we've never fully recovered) and I certainly would NOT recommend playing that edition.

I do have some movement trays (should have used them last night, but I had not planned on fielding 60 Gitz either, so I had not brought them) and will happily give them a go - I have no intentions to abandon AoS for WHFB. The Regimental system of WHFB does look quite appealing, though. My issues with round-based trays still remains with having to abandon them as soon as a charge is declared (cos, in my head, I am convinced I 'should' be abusing the ever-loving fuck out of it because of 40k Orks... While Regimental doesn't seem to even allow for that bullshit, which is a lot of stress lifted)
Thank you for the heads up about 8th, as well. I do not plan on digging deep in to 7th and am only interested in that edition because of this set especially. Was thinking it might be a nice and contained set to keep around for if the itch ever struck me. [Shrugs]
Stupid mobile webpage doesn't show the previous posts in the thread and I forget what else was mentioned, at this point...

I have a trade at some point around noon, but would be down to push some minis around afterwards.
