I have little to no experience with magnetization so I'll ask the hivemind. How viable do folks think the weapon hands will be for magnets? It would be nice to be able to swap around special weapons.

Honestly marine bodies have always been so inexpensive I've never seen much point to magnetizing them. It's a lot of work and you end up with a more fiddly, potentially jank-looking figure that isn't much cheaper than just picking up more marines.
Now vehicles, that's another question entirely. Magnetize all of em every time, imo, and you won't regret it.

not sure on the new bodies, but currently the special weapon has a hand attached normally and rests in the alternate hand. One magnet in the wrist could do it pretty easy if you want to go that route. But honestly marine bodies are not exactly hard to come by, so I don't know if I'd want to. lol... wait three months and I'm sure there'll be a LOT of marine bodies on the trade forum here

The new sculpts actually have both hands molded directly onto the special weapons, it's not like the old days where one hand was a scoop and you dropped the bolter into it. So you probably either need clever engineering or two magnets to keep both wrists aligned. But otherwise yeah there'll probably be lots of marines floating around for some time. If there's anything that's easy to find on the trade depot it's marines lol

Basic infantry you'll spend as much in magnets as just buying an extra box or two of models over time to have all the options. My personal policy is that if it ain't on a 50-60mm base or bigger, it's probably not worth your time to magnetize.

Blu Tac the special weapons at the wrist until you decide on loadout your going to just keep using.
Same effect at a significantly lower cost/fiddlyness

Its a little different when special weapons come in squads of 10 and there are 6 options No one is going to build 60 special weapons dudes just to have options 8ts different w something like a tactical squad or drulkhari warriors

Well realistically HH has such a massive range all but the most committed are just going to have to make do with the subselection of stuff they decide to build, and not be swapping out 30 plasma guns for volkite cavaliers for meltaguns every couple weeks. Same thing we've been doing with 40k for the last 30 years, really.
And as an aside some people absolutely will have 60 special weapons dudes (and more!) to have options- the same people who had platoons of devastator marines for all occasions. Like me, for example. I have platoons of devastator marines lol
An even better suggestion than tacking guys imo is just to proxy in test games until you are ready to build. I think this is better for two reasons: 1) What a lot of us will be doing is splitting or flipping weapons we don't use because the boxes come with a silly amount for one army, and it's easier to do that when you leave them on sprue 2) For some weapons the arm positions appear to vary, and I think you'd get a more natural fit if you posed them with the weapon already selected
That's what I'll be doing, anyway, at least before I invest in any weapon kits (I already have some heresy plasma and melta gunners to tide me over)

I agree I would never buy 30 devastators just to have a full squad of 5 of each option (tho some people do in fact do this) It's pretty rare to have large units like that with that many weapon choices through.
