This actually also applies to digitally delivered products too. Expect to see Steam and other similar platforms starting to have to charge you tax on anything you buy for digital download. They have been already for the past while and months, but there is ways around it. Most of this that's been talked has been already implemented since roughly February. Only things they haven't been able to tax is kijiji and facebook market place and other simalr markets and I agree with Shannon if its 10$ im "saving" (Don't forget the 14$ shipping) I'd rather get it at the nexus.

Haha yeah, let's hope the tax man never shows up after a deal is made over the trade board or facebook.
I'm definitely not going to order something from a store that does 15% off and then pay $14 shipping, instead of driving down to nexus. There are companies in canada that offer free shipping over a certain amount though. $80 isn't hard to hit in this hobby, so shipping costs aren't really an issue. But I'm not really doing much shopping with them either.
I'm also not using ebay to buy new stuff in box from registered businesses. I'm primarily there for second hand (on sprue preferably, but not always) and discount box splitters. I've picked up a good number of $60-80 kits for about 40% less than retail price (including shipping costs) in the last few years. That doesn't take long to add up, and does so quicker with each price hike. If that amount of money is negligible to you, you have my congratulations.
I'm not trying to suggest it's anything less than a great idea to support nexus as much as we can. But we don't all have the same means.

Coupled with the added tax, try to avoid shipping through UPS as they're dramatically upping their brokerage charges to a whopping 40-60% of the total value of the shipment.

UPS also has a deal with Customs to auto charge duty on international shipping (specifically from the US), as a means to skip the customs queue at the border for faster shipping. I haven't worked at Canada Post for like 10 years, but when I did it was $9 flat rate plus the 13%.
