Well with Shannon doing "oops all carnifex" I feel like I want to try the "too many small bugs" nids list I know they aren't good but I just got a tervigon and 70 termagaunts from buying the combat patrol again. I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea of what hive fleet to put them in. I'm thinking hydra and doing the adaptive for the pre game move on gaunts but I'm not sure. Also if anyone has suggestions for making a list work for horde nids work in general that'd be great.

I think there's a tervigon build that can work pretty good, although it means having a pretty big gaunt carpet to work it out properly. You'd have the units to do alot of actions, so I'd stick with action secondaries and controlling primary.
You do need some damage dealers though as those gaunts are going to get picked up pretty easily. Maybe dual harpy to pull the attention of the opponent and allow you to have some anti-tank in the list.
You could also double-down on the T8 threats with some T-fexes with acid spray to clear out the infantry counters to your gaunts.
Don't make the mistake I did though... do not arm the little guys with devourers!
You could also go the disruptive route if you have access to a trygon (prime) and deathleaper to jump into the backfield and discourage the opponent from pushing hard into your little dudes.
some disposable hormagants to run forward and try to control the movement is a pretty cheap option point wise as well.
I think in a list like this your goal should be to control the table, hamper your opponent's movement and dominate primary, leveraging an early lead that puts the opponent on the back-foot.
Your gants are pretty terrible. (armor of contempt even made the newly decent fleshborer pretty meh) so if you want them to do work you need them en-masse and supported.
Venomthropes are a must to keep your swarm alive.
I think the hive fleet is going to matter a LOT.
Gorgon can give you a mass of poison, which is really good on hormagants if you want to go the death by a thousand cuts route. Poisonous influence power is bonkers good on massed attacks (6's proc a mortal). Hypermorphic biology for a T9 2+ save warlord who could you know... have a lethal influence cloud around him and not targetable until all the gants are dead, is pretty funny.
If you want to go the hail-hydra route, remember the adaptation is melee only... so again really only hormagants are going to benefit from this. (termagants in combat are pretty terrible). I'm less confident this can work without really tooling your list to support this.
Kronos for massed termagants (+4 range and AP-2 in half range is pretty nice) is an alternative play, although to really leverage the benefits you'd have to build your non-gants in the list to a more shooty bent, but I think it's possible.
Just some quick thoughts... but I think there's a super cool concept in there.

I really thought hard about kronos. 60 fleshborer shots would be awesome with the +2" range. My only issue with it is that it doesn't give me access to the hunt biomorphs since I really feel like that 6" pre game move is really good if I'm spamming gaunts. It's the same issue with gorgon. Maybe if I stick with just the 2 squads of 30 gaunts and lots of big bug support I could just go with the all monsters have objective secured instead then just throw in an exocrine and tyrannofex. I have yet to get harpys but the idea of running 2 as fire support is a good idea. I'm thinking ilk throw in a flyrant with reaper and some tyrant guard and venomthropes just so I can have something really scary in the list. I also need to order hormagaunts I feel like those will take attention away from my termagaunts at first so they can get in position.

I'd strongly recommend you look into Gorgon. You can still access the Lurk adaptive table for obsec on monsters their and their fleet-specific strat and relic are both very good.
60 gants is a LOT of gants on the smaller tables of 9th, you don't need 120+ models anymore to create a wall of flesh. Especially if you bring a Terivgon to restore damaged units, and you can even plop down an extra unit for free if you need to get on an objective, swing model-count in your favour, or do an infantry-based action.
Honestly, there's no reason you couldn't have the majority of the hard-hitters in the army be monsters and have them supported by a Tervigon + Gant-Swarm, there's plenty of points to go around especially in a 2k list.

I've been looking into gorgon and I thing it's what I'm going to go for. The relic for +1 toughness is very cool. I really want to have a toughness 9 tervigon with objective secured counting as 5 models and maybe the Warlord trait for the 5+ shrug to make her incredibly hard to shift.
