I was chatting with Shannon over a game of AOS about how divisive the priority role is (aka the dreaded double turn). So I got to thinking, would more people turn up for AOS nights with the option to house rule out the priority roll? I know there are tournament organizers like WTC who make house rules for their events like they are currently not using the 2” wall engagement rule in 40k. 🤷♂️
It would be nice to see more people out for AOS. Just a thought

Honestly, I found double turns to be a lot scarier in theory than practice, particularly in our easy going meta.
I think I've played against one opponent who had more drops than I do. Out of all of those other games where I didn't have the choice, I've had two games where my opponent gave me second. I usually go first, and I have been double turned A LOT. Now I just assume it's going to happen going from round 1 to 2, and I play for it.
I do get that it's a turn off, particularly to players coming from 40k, but I think there's a good reason why the AoS focused crowd doesn't have a problem with it.
All that said, I'm open to try pretty much any house rule my opponent thinks would be fun.

I know that the double turn is one of the rules that I hear the most complaints about... especially by new players, or players coming from other systems like 40k.
I've always not liked it. thought it was an example of randomness for randomness sake (like a lot of GW rules that usually get tossed eventually - but this one has stayed constant). I get that there are people who do though, so I just grudgingly accept it's existence.
For example, I've never had it happen even once and thought "well that made that game more fun" regardless if it's me getting the double turn or having it done upon me.

So, has there been a consensus on if this house rule should be implemented or not?

I'm not a huge AoS guy, but I feel like how the person who is not getting doubled gets to play with objectives is a nice balance. On the other hand, I don't know if the double turn really adds anything to the game. Other than a need to play more conservatively.

I really don't care either way. I'll play with someone who wants to ditch the priority roll, just something to be discussed in advance because it can affect list construction - not for everyone but there are definitely armies that want to exploit doubles or hedge against them. Example: the curse chant is something that shines in a priority world but becomes much harder to use when you are never given a chance to double (the debuff also has the potential to last a lot longer under double turns).
It's also not the only house rule I try to play with regularly. I also like to import 40k's vertical engage because sadly Sigmar is even more broken without it than 40k was, or more terrain effects like rough terrain or obscuring.
