Hello I’m loving the forum, but I’m used to more of a constant stream of hobby banter and updates on a platform that is more easily accessed from my phone. To that end I have made a wargames discord group for the Kingston area. If such a thing already exists, I’ll happily shut mine down. discord.gg/DFRhPE8JX8This should be a permanent link, so please share around.

So, am I the only one who just accesses the web browser on their phone via a shortcut to the Forum? I literally see the front page every time I bring up the internet. That's probably as easy as I need my access to be haha.
I get that it's not discord though. But I honestly don't even know how people use discord. I know how I use it, but that's as a voice chat program while playing video games with people I know. None of us types into it, and I've never had it on my phone.
TLDR I'm 37 years old and I have no idea what the youth are up to

TLDR I'm 37 years old and I have no idea what the youth are up to I’m 35 and I’ve figured it out 😉 I initially was disappointed when online forums mostly died off, but having had to adapt I see the advantages now. forums are great for ongoing topics. Discord is good for more casual conversations and messaging. Neither is perfect.

I've tried Discord on my phone; and I found it little better than a large vomitous string of constantly refreshing text with everyone talking about all the topics all at once.
Call my brain more old-fashioned, but I like things to have their place. There's whole sections of the board I never even look twice at, no different than other people I'm guessing. The discord I joined for a game, didn't have that option, it was basically just a free-for-all; and the topic that won was the one which had the most amount of active users talking about at that given time.
Maybe it's good for some, but I'm not likely to ever darken its digital doorway.

Discord is as useful as the ppl who organize the channels in it.
Up here in Ottawa a huge amount of yhe warhammer stuff is managed through a discord, but its organized not dissimilarity to this forum with a whole bunch of subject specific channels

Yeah, Discord is really hit and miss. If you have someone (or a group of someones) who organize it well, it runs very smoothly.
When poorly organized, it's like trying to drink from a fire hose.
