Damn Custodians sure ate it, huh? Reversed places with 'Crons.
Lots has changed in a relatively short span!

Damn Custodians sure ate it, huh? Reversed places with 'Crons. Lots has changed in a relatively short span! The Custodes are in a weird place, they have a better than 52-54% win rate into all factions EXCEPT - Necrons, Nids, Tau and Sisters....well 3 of those 4 are the top meta picks and tau are pretty popular. so Custodes end up looking like trash at the major levels. I will say that custodes I think were not fairly assessed to the rest of the armies only to the tournament winning ones.

I'd agree with Jordan... Custodes are still a good army into most of the field. GT results can definitely skew things a bit. Especially compared with our local scene where people aren't necessarily taking the "top lists" for their faction either. Even Goonhammer said that the nid results are primarily the fault of leviathan and don't reflect the performance of non-leviathan lists (so hopefully the next balance slate will target just that hive fleet and not shotgun the whole army). Likewise the necron lists that aren't eternal expansionist silent king builds are not dominating as much.

Custodes lack durability at the moment - they don't have Armour of Contempt, and most of their key defensive stratagems were made once per game or infantry only. I imagine GW will roll back some of their changes.
As for Necrons, Eternal Conquerors has to go. It's been throttling Necron build diversity since day one. Silent King having Core was definitely a misstep.

Silent King having core is crazy... it shouldn't be the case (and I own and play silent king and I still say this!)
I have no doubt that will be rolled back in the next dataslate balance, and likely some of the custodes nerfs as well.
all they have to do is put "non-character" in front of the part about vehicles getting core and a LOT of silent king's power is reduced considerably. (no more reanimating menhir's, rerolls in shooting and combat gone, etc)
I'm pretty sure custodes are getting back obsec on non-character infantry too.

They need to neck-shoot the Silent King and adjust the Secondaries.
And neck-shoot Leviathan.
Maybe neck-shoot all Faction Secondaries?

lol... I don't play leviathan anymore (I did when the dex first came out though) because transhuman physiology can be a feels-bad when it's army wide...
Maybe if they made it vs. ranged only like goonhammer suggested it would be less of a problem.
I don't think Silent King as core was intended by GW actually... enjoy it while it lasts because I'd expect it to be gone next balance update.

Honestly I don't mind if they remove the 'revive menhirs' thing as that was gamey from the start.
But at least let him be effected by his reroll auras even if it's nerfed to reroll ones instead of reroll everything. I mean it's split between melee (to wound) and ranged (to hit) along with the fact that he can lose them as he takes damage so it's not that OP.

Silent king is pretty OP with core... there's a reason necron GT lists are dominated by him. He is that good.
I realize I'm saying this as someone who plays silent king eternal expansionist. I played it once since he got core... it was pretty gross.

Which is the most OP aspect you've found about him being core, the rerolls or some other aspect?
