I’m glad the non-interactive things were removed, but it’s left the book feeling pretty mediocre now. Teclis still seems like a competitive auto include and Alarith while finally stuff are still so slow.
I guess partially my negativity comes from Bounty Hunters being a thing and making Wardens pretty much useless, but that should change soon I hope.

I do try not to focus too hard on the GHB additions. This one in particular is extremely game warping, and of course temporary.
I've been reading up on tzeentch lately, since their changes will become my changes. I run a lot of tzaangors in my beasts.
Looking to learn some more about high elves soon though. I never actually played against their old book, so I wont have a great prespective on the changes. We've all heard tales of how scary some combos could be though.
I will say that quite a few of the 3.0 battletomes came out to "meh, it's fine I guess" reviews, and then turned out to be pretty great. Not OP, but definitely competitive after a second glance and some play time. Unlike this edition of 40k, the designers aren't trying to shock and awe by cranking up the power level from the last book. Balance has actually been pretty solid for the new stuff.

Bounty hunters is wrecking the internal balance of MANY books atm haha. As is expert conquerors. I hope at some point Sigmar's mission packs can be less "Okay today we demand you take lots of wizards" and more like 40k's but we'll see.
Dave is 1000% correct that many of the most boring-looking books have turned out to be S+ tier for various reasons, I'd give it some breathing room and see how it shakes out against its contemporaries in the field. And as someone who has never played a top army in Sigmar, playing weaker books or lists is still a lot of fun, even if Lumineth are no longer a top five book!

Hmmm I meant mediocre not in terms of the power level of the book relative to the meta, but more I feel the internal balance is off, with clear winners and losers. I guess maybe it will be better after the GHB goes away and you are no longer punished for taking battleline units.
I thought soul bight were considered pretty good? Vrykos and zombies, but I am not in touch with the meta.

Soulblight, and zombies in particular, suffer from the same issue that the rest of the squishy battleline dependent armies do at the moment. When you're doing double damage to that horde, it's a lot easier to just pick them all up to prevent them respawning. They were doing quite well before the current GHB, but now that build gets punished.
I'm by no means an expert on lumineth, but if GV status is the real cause of the internal balance issues, I wouldn't sweat it. I'm sure it's best that battletomes aren't written with GHB battlepacks in mind, because then you would be stuck with weird skews long after the season ended. If you want to play the army without that imbalance, get in some games with previous battlepacks. Last season still plays fine, and the core pack gives a totally vanilla experience if you're looking to avoid whatever the GHBs are trying to push.
Not trying to say you aren't correct in your assessment of how things will play, but if it's mostly an issue with the GHB your army is definitely not alone there, and it's a fairly shortlived problem.

And you can always play a different battlepack (our group has pretty much skipped this one due to lack of interest). We have been playing some of the missions but there isn't much enthusiasm for the game-warping emphasis on specific unit types so we're basically just playing variations of contest of generals.

I kinda dislike this battle pack too, to be honest. I'm also done with this stupid priority roll. I'm just not playing with it anymore. I've been trying to just play as written but there's some unfun things I'm just done with.
