So... has anyone played the new warcry? What's it like these days? Is it much like Kill Team 2?

I have no answers to this, but it is also a question I have.
Particularly because I already have a box of untamed beasts and I've been eyeing up a couple of other warbands.

I played the first version a lot when it came out. We had a pretty good group at SBT but it died out sadly. The new version seems like it's a better game but haven't played at all though.

Was just checking out the warcry warbands on GW's site. The double squad boxes for $85 are gone. Now there are only single squads for $70. A 65% price increase just in time for the new Slaves book. Just GW doing GW things I guess.

Oof that sucks for sigmar those doubled up boxes were super good value and when you brought one cult unit you usually wanted at least one more.

I had played several games of the first edition of Warcry before covid hit. I greatly enjoyed it. That being said, I know nothing about the new edition. Like you yourself said, it could very well be a case of it being like Killteam, in which case the new edition is nothing like the old one.
I'm trying to get back into this stuff, and personally speaking, I'd be willing to give Warcry a try again.

So, I was at Nexus today, and nearly bought the 2nd edition Warcry rulebook. The only thing that stopped me is the fact that I have no idea where to find the unit stats. I'll look into it further.

I think that the rules, core and warband, are available for download on the community site. There's a warband builder, with points and upgrades, there too.
It should be possible to get started learning without actually buying anything, assuming you want to begin with models you already own.

Well I'll be damned, the core rules are available for free. I'm honestly shocked.
For those that prefer physical rulebooks, what's needed is the core rulebook, and the compendium book (Which apparently contains the stats for everything available to be used)
I'll look into these further, as I do enjoy skirmish games, and this is made better by the fact that I can use models I already own.

When I have time I plan to dig into them but so many other games on the go...
Hot tip for anyone who wants to read the core rules and compendium, you can 'flatten' the obscene HD images in the pdf by printing the pdf to pdf. It will make it infinitely less painful to actually read as a document. Also makes the file size smaller.

Just to check, but has anyone here decided if they'd want to play Warcry or not? I'd be free in the new year for it. I haven't looked at the rules just yet, as I don't want to spend time learning something if I'll never get a chance to play it, hence why I'm checking the interest here.

I read a good chunk of the rules. Will take another read or four to really figure things out, I imagine.
I'd probably be willing to give it a shot though, if you were looking to try it. I could put together a warband of my beasts, untamed beasts, or corvus cabal. Wouldn't have to really invest much other than the time to build some stuff I already own.

I dabbled a bit with Version 1.0 and had a fun time with it. It's a pretty fast paced game with fun shenanigans you get to pull off. From what I recall around the release of V2 - the ruleset and core mechanics remained pretty much unchanged. Reactions were added in, and a couple of other small things.
I'd be down for giving it a go again, especially if we can get some games in with free rules. Sounds like a no brainer.

Played two games over the weekend visiting a friend. Loved the game when it came out, still love it now.
It's fast, fun, and can be super brutal. My Untamed Beasts leader used a quad skill to absolutely dumpster my buddy's Nurgle fly leader. It was awesome.
