Yeah was watching a video about this... he was undefeated in 10 games in order to snag the title... pretty impressive
was hard to care much about LVO this year given they didn't use Arks of Omen... but interesting that a list that was NOT one of the meta boogeymen from Nephilim took the whole thing. (everyone was betting on tsons+flamers taking it)

I think the player placed terrain was a big factor here. He was able to set up a board where he could hide vs shooting, make charges Turn 2 and screen out deep striking units like flamers with models or force them into out of LoS places. Also interestingly LVO used a modified wobble model ruling to prevent wall blocking infantry/beast/swarms on the charge with the 1 inch and a millimeter trick which is pretty massive. I like it cause it keeps things from stalemate.
I've been watching more and more competitive play and in player place melee does well, in GW format, with like 4-8 big pieces anything that can shoot then move or pressure LoS is great or shoot out of sequence.
WTC I haven't seen enough to get a read but it seems like fly key word does well on the super dense boards.

WTC is REAL hard to play knights / vehicles with though... 12 pieces of terrain PLUS the middle ruin is just bonkers
but you know, my GSC would LOVE it lol
