so i had an idea for a grey knights consept army. the crusade. u have coteaz 6 units of crusader ether 10s or 12s. a librarians a group of paladins and maybe in a landraider. and then some ranged units. the crusaders can be in chimeras and such. the main thing is the price. crusaders cost a lot cash wise even tho points wise they are only the price of a storm shield. im thinking maybe getting some bretonian pesents and giving them big shields. what do people think of that idea and if there is a cheaper wat to do it im all ears lol.

FYI - I edited it because you had posted same info twice... easier to read now!
I'd buy the grey knight models....
say what you will about cost / value etc. but those models are damn pretty... it'll be worth it when you have it all done / painted... when you consider it's a good six month process, the few bucks you save aren't really going to matter...
plus bret peasants do not even look remotely close to a grey knight in power armor... that's a huge stretch for "counts as".... be about as close as saying they're genestealers....
if models / costs are a problem use your regular grey knights as counts as... they'll be at least closer....

crusaders = guardsmen with storm sheilds and power swords...... just saying EDIT: I'd say team them up with techmarines so he can use hammerhand to make the all S4 and have him use all thos special grenades too

oh jack the crusaders don't have power armour its just flak army or otherwise i would. and yeah the crusader models are amazing, its just that they are 12 bucks each, i did find them for 7 on ebay and i do have 5 coming in but i still need 72 of them to do the 6, 12 man teams. at 12 thats 864 bucks and at 7 thats 502 bucks and they only has 33 at the place i ordered the 5.
I probably wont do the army because of cost. I don't know why the inquisitional henchmen cost so much like 5 crusaders at 12 bucks is 60 you can get a box of 5 terminators for that much, but for the points wise they are soo cheap and with a power weapon and storm shield i proxied them the other day, they are amazing even with only 1 attack each a 3+ invul save and no armour saves against them they can take out most other troops or at least keep them busy till help arrives

ah okay.... I got the model wrong....
that makes somewhat more sense then..... but the bret peasants I still don't think would be your best bet... they look like peasants... not crusaders...
what about another fantasy line other than GW???

that model would probably work if the sizing is right i would have to check, got an email from the person on ebay i guess they only have one of the models i ordered not 5 lol. But for 5.99 its still over 400 for 72 models i was thinking of the man at war for the brets you can get 16 for 42 bucks that 4.5 boxes so 5 boxes at 42 bucks is 210. thats still more then i would like to spend on a fun army i dont know how often id feild. what was that other war hame, war of kings or game of kings or something? do they have any knights on foot or anything?

Kings of war has elves, undead, and dwarves.... A good place to see a BUNCH of fantasy mins from other manufacturers is: www.frpgames.com/I'd still order from Mike of course, but he'd be able to bring in pretty much anything you see there...

thanks i have been looking the only place i can get the number of models for a really good price in that Kings of war, and i don't think people would allow me to use dwarfs lol. www.frpgames.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=62930then there is this model which if i had the money i would totally make them all this i can just see them cowering behind the shield like the kid from the old d&d cartoon

They could work, but they're not the same scale.
The LOTR models are slightly smaller than anything 40k related, which was intentional. But, I don't see how they wouldn't work.
If I recall correctly as well, most of them are solid body so all you have to do is stick them in the base after you clean them off. But you're also only limiting yourself to 8 swordmen. You would need to scavenge up some bits to turn the other 16 guys (spearmen and bowmen) into swordsmen.

well i was thinking i could use the spear ones as power weapons, it does just say power weapon not power sword, but that might be a stretch, and then just get shields for the other 8 and maybe some weapons

Good point. Spears are weapons and there was no real specification on it. So then you just need to scrounge something up for the bowmen lol
