In vehicles and movement section page 57 it says a vehicle that travels more than 6 and up to 12 is moving at cruising speed.. I just want to know what you guys think about that... can you say during a game I move 12 just by doing a round and staying at same place... Im asking that because I played Tom and with all his vehicule he was doing that so I need 6s to hit in close combat but Im not sure you can do that and by reading the rule its not clear...

To my knowledge the vehicle has to have moved over 6" from it's start point to finish point to count as having moved the distance.
You can't say move forward 3", then cut back 4" and claim to move 7"
I think the only time you can claim more movement than you actually move on the table is when coming in off a table edge (ie: Reserves) where you are allows to claim having moved "Flat out" even though you didn't actually move over 12"

well you can't pivot to count it as movement, as pivoting is free, so doesn't use up movement...
but I think you can move backwards 4" then forward 4" if you really want to though... and you've travelled 8"... all it says is that you have to travel the distance doesn't it?

Yup, the move in a circle, end up in the same spot, claim to have moved x" doesn't work. You have to end up that many inches away from where you started. The Reserve thing only works because you say that you "come off the board here and then move this far to here, also on the board edge"

I thought I should add that I'm basing my answer mainly on a 4th ed FAQ that pertained to the old rule for fast skimmers moving more than 6" and claiming the "can only be glanced" rule. It stated that in order for a model to be considered to have moved more than 6" there had to be more than 6" between it's start position and end position. So you couldn't remain in the same spot and just claim to have moved 4" up and then 4" back.
And since, from what I've seen, I don't think the movement rules were changed between 4th & 5th editions, it wasn't FAQ'd again.

In the rulebook on page 63 it says that moving back and forward or around in circles doesn't mean it moved for determining what you need to hit.

Thanks for posting up proof connor! One young guy with a rulebook is worth way more than half a dozen veterans rambling in cases like this!
