While I enjoyed all the missions I played, I feel that the Abandoned City one (get points by investigating the ruins) might need a bit of tweaking.
You can get points fine if you have a good number of troops and/or high speed units that can freely enter ruins (need to be wholly within them to do the action) but if you're an elite army with few units and/or have ground-bound vehicles that can't easily get wholly within the ruins, you're going to struggle to get the points you need.

“I was hoping to have a Terrain sheet for each table. But the problem comes up when you’re setting the table up the day of or the night before, and not sure what terrain is available to go with the mission. So if you have an old school fantasy piece on the table, it wasn't planned, it was due to availability*. and cant "really" plan ahead.”
Hey I appreciate you addressing that, I love the idea of terrain sheets. I get that we’re working with what is available at Nexus. Totally willing to help out with anything next time. Toss me a message or grab me at the tournament if you need help with some last minute setup. (We played round 1 - Jesse with the Sisters of battle). I actually have some materials I’ve been meaning make some terrain pieces with. Happy to make some for next time if more is needed.

1. What did you like best?
It was good to see a lot of people out and interested in some 40k. There were a few faces that I normally see that weren't there but there were also a number of new faces, which is excellent. It was great to see some of the blast from the past missions from old clubs and I think crusade was the right tournament to bring it back for, even if there was some
2. What could use some tweaking?
I think this has been touched on by just the communication/advertisement of the custom missions. I know there was something to be said for the surprise of seeing all the custom missions day of but I think there were some people who would have changed something about their army. I know some of the custom missions can make skewed funny lists into less funny lists. 3. Was there a favourite mission you played that you'd like to play again?
I mean, I played a mission that I designed a long time ago and it still worked pretty well. I think Shannon and Chris did an excellent job of converting it to 9th rules but keeping the spirit of the mission. Dangerous intelligence still felt like you were balancing doing damage with mortal wounds vs getting easy objectives placements.
4. Was there a mission that felt like it needed reworking / you didn't enjoy?
I think all 3 I played had pretty solid foundation. I think game one on the cthulhu table (open/close) portal probably needs to be an action and not just a roll. I could see people advancing onto / falling back onto and flipping the objective since it was just a roll being pretty hard to deal with. Ambulls was fun but probably could have been more deadly. They just showed up, got squished and rinse and repeat. I don't remember what it was called but there was a missions where if you weren't tabled you scored 90 points. It was like a castle defence mission, that also included secret tunnels. I read it and thought it probably needs a rework though admittedly I didn't play on it.
5. Was having the regular game length for games okay even at 1500 points? (I know it made the end a bit rushed)
All my games ended turn 5 with time left while dealing with a custom mission so I think that they time was good. I think 1500 pts with the custom mission feels right, in terms of extra time to do some reading and book keeping, while still having time to play the game.
6. Any other suggestions you can think of?
I really enjoyed when there was a Warlord based secondary where you could score points for doing cool stuff with your leader. I know we already had custom missions so this feels like another fun thing to add into the mix.
I think otherwise, just wait and see what 10th does to the game and adjust some of the missions /play style accordingly and great crusade could stay as a random custom mission tournament. The 1500 points and the named HQ definitely makes the custom feel more at place.

1. What did you like best? The return of silly missions! This is the perfect type of event for them. Super low stakes, winning doesn't matter in the slightest, and low enough points that even if some of the missions add time to your game, you should be able to get through them.
2. What could use some tweaking? Nothing that personally effected me. I heard a couple people say they had no idea it was silly missions, so I guess tooting your own creative horn more? I dunno, I knew about it somehow.
3. Was there a favourite mission you played that you'd like to play again? Whichever mission had every unit able to heroically intervene. I liked that one. 4. Was there a mission that felt like it needed reworking / you didn't enjoy? I spoke quickly to Chris about a few minor things to consider. For the map where the defender gets secret passages to arrive from reserves from: -Consider making the defender place the passage entrances BEFORE deployment, not afterwards. They are pre-dug tunnels after all. -State that reserves may only arrive from the tunnels starting from Battle Round 2. Some units are able to pop up round 1, and completely munch face (ask me how I know haha.) For Hammer and Ambull -Have a couple designated spots where ambulls pop up, and then scatter 3 or 4 D6 away. Jesse and I just ended up gaming it for points by placing ambulls in our back field, then shooting them for points. Otherwise fun.
5. Was having the regular game length for games okay even at 1500 points? (I know it made the end a bit rushed) All good here. I finished all 4 games no problemo.
6. Any other suggestions you can think of? Nope, keep up the great work. I had a swell time.

1. What did you like best? First time playing in a tournament(ish) setting in years and had a blast, met some good people!
2. What could use some tweaking? From my perspective not a whole lot, I kind of expected going into it that it would be a super casual scene going into it based off the forum discussions and the restrictions on bringing specific units. Kind of encouraged me to bring a kind of w/e (Not that I really knew what I was doing lol) list even if I didn't get it all painted in time. I think it would be neat to make it more narrative by trying to align faction keywords at the start of the day and potentially forge a narrative, but that would probably require some extra leg work and it seemed like a lot of work was being put into the event as is. Also I dont know if that's even feasible due to the percentage of people playing specific factions, or if its even within the scope of the event.
3. Was there a favourite mission you played that you'd like to play again? Honestly after getting the rust forcibly knocked off after the first round I'd like to play that everyone gets to heroically intervene mission again, just to see if I can do better lol.
4. Was there a mission that felt like it needed reworking / you didn't enjoy? The last one I did was in the underground cavern seemed very cool and thematic but I think really crippled my opponent as it seemed like their list heavily relied on deepstriking. I think instead of prohibiting reserves entering into the opponents deployment zone either increase the amount of mortal wounds dealt to a unit, to like 3d3 or something to make it a potentially comical gamble.
5. Was having the regular game length for games okay even at 1500 points? (I know it made the end a bit rushed) Yeah I think the game lengths were fine, 2/3 matches I only made it to turn 2-3 due to the time limit but I think that was due to both me and my opponents relearning the rules.
6. Any other suggestions you can think of? I went into the boss fight thinking it would be everyone at one table in a free for all where there would be opportunity for both crazy alliances (or outstanding acts of treachery) to occur. Granted with the amount of players we had it might not have been feasible but even splitting it into brackets where we have 2-3 tables with 4-6 players and adding some scoring system beyond kill opponent would've been neat. Could've allowed for some neat "hey man I just really wanna kill that guy so ill help you do whatever if you help me" kind of situations.
Overall great event would go again!

I miss the old Great Crusade format with the three missions that incentivized Warlords doing stuff. It was my favorite format in our 8th Ed tourneys, and this last tourney did not feel like that.

Ya could be split into two tournaments.
One the fun crazy missions. And one where your warlord is the focus and does stuff.

And you just doubled the T.O.'s work load. Might be fun for us, but a lot more on their shoulders.

Son of a bee sting this is what you meant by "Chris and I have something in the works" when I made a comment on the club champs. I wish I could have been there for this one the custom missions were always my favorite. Did you have a Titan game? No Titan.... Maybe next time we'll do Warzone Pandorax and throw in a Khorne Tower of SKulls, and have that thing grind up and down the table. We did have Seize the forge, which had a Questor Traitoris. But no Titans. You have given me Idea's Kaelon. If you had asked, I'd have loaned out my Warhound...
