So having had a chance to try out the list for the first time over three games, I'm going to write down some thoughts. The first one is eldar need another nerf. Maybe not to be balanced against the other top tier armies like GSC, Knights, Custodes, but against everyone else it's ridiculous. Hopefully GW knocks the top tier down, and raises the bottom tier up with some nice points adjustments.
CHARACTER
Autarch Wayleaper
• Warlord
Yncarne
Farseer
Spiritseer
• Enhancement: Fate’s Messenger (Totally forgot about this every game)
OTHER DATASHEETS
Fire Prism
Fire Prism
Viper
Hornet
2x Warlock Conclave
5x Shadow Specters
5x Warp Spiders
10x Wraithguard
Wraithknight
• 2x Heavy wraithcannon
So this list I really wanted to try out the Knight, to see what it could do. And it's still crazy even after the points changes, and the nerf to fate dice. The combination of Towering, Devastating wounds, and blast weapons, is very strong.
The wraith guard were a last minute addition, and they were the actual stars of the list. Super durable, they walked onto an objective mid board, and if you shoot them they get to shoot you back once a round. They were the distraction that let the other pieces keep shooting.
The Fire Prisms are incredibly reliable and versatile. The main source of anti-horde shooting, which I would foresee being the biggest problem for this list overall.
Spiders are super fast to do actions and score secondaries. But are squishy elf infantry so die if anyone looks at them.
Specters generally deepstruck for secondaries, also squishy.
Hornet and Viper were nice cheap units to screen, grab points and also have good enough shooting to bait out defensive strats before the really big guns start firing.
The Yncarne was probably the weakest part of the list (which is crazy cause her rules are amazing). But honestly I think a Night spinner and another hornet would do more to lean into the lethality of eldar shooting. She can be great at scoring secondaries with her teleport. I didn't have to face much lone operative or melee threats, so maybe she would shine there.
Probably not going to run the Knight again, until the next balance patch and explore a few more of the units available.
