We knew it was coming: www.warhammer-community.com/2023/07/28/warhammer-40000-app-battle-forge-access-update/They are keeping everything else in the app free (rules, datacards etc.) but the army builder is for Warhammer+ subscribers I'm already a subscriber (there's some good stuff on there to paint to) but if I wasn't I might just sign up for the app alone because it's actually a really good army builder. Try it for free while you still can!

I've played with battle forge enough right now I'm pretty clearly thinking I'm willing to keep it. If they paygate building with each army behind a codex code after release tho I will probably think about bouncing.
It gets updated same day as rules releases, has full text of all the rules right in the app, and saves me hauling a stack of books around. That's worth the subscription alone to me, and the Warhammer+ content is kind of just gravy for me.

If you like the videos, and app, and have a use for the free miniature they send you (normally about a $45 value) then it's really not a bad deal at all.

How does the free mini work? I haven't signed up yet since I didn't have a reason too. But, I'll probably do it sadly because I like list building.

Once you subscribe, and once the "time to pick a mini" rolls around, any yearly subscribers, or monthly subs (after 12 months) get to pick a mini of the two offered, your warhammer+ acct. is linked across all of their platforms, so you pick from WH+, then it goes to the webstore, where shipping is free and the mini is a $0 "cost".
A few hoops/steps, but it's also a free mini, so it's worth it in the end.

www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F0s0sqzfikoib1.jpgI don't know if this is true or not, but someone posted this over on reddit. If you can't view the link, it's a screenshot of an email reply they got from GW that has GW basically saying Canadians can no longer subscribe to the Warhammer+ due to recent Canadian policy changes.

That is nonsense... I'm subscribed to it.

Like I said, not sure if it was true or not, just figured I'd post it here. It's worth noting though that the screenshot specifies new subscriptions, not existing ones, so it may be a case of it you already have an account it's fine, but new people can't make one.
That being said, take everything you see online with a grain of salt.

Though I'm currently subscribed, I can see this becoming an issue due to the CRTC's new policy affecting online streaming platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, Hulu, etc. etc.
They have to comply with the same regulations for 20% canadian content as traditional cable and radio, so it's entirely possible that GW will have to do the same or be locked out of offering the service should they not comply.
It'll be interesting to see what happens when the CRTC starts enforcing that for real, and how much pushback there is; or conversely, how many more titles get pulled from Canadian audiences to be able to then say they comply by having their 20% content margin.

If you try and access warhammerplus.com AND click the subscribe link, if you are geolocated in Canada you are blocked out by their web filter.
Effectively, if you aren't already subscribed, you cannot currently subscribe without jumping through hoops.

guess I'm glad I have an existing account. I just checked - I'm still able to log in just fine, even with my country set to Canada.
I've emailed GW to ask them specifically if this is true and if so what does this mean for new or existing subscribers.
