I would like to know what armies you like playing or playing against the most under 7th edition rules because you find the army enjoyable for some reason (fluff, models, the army book is balanced/well-written, etc). You have up to 5 choices.

Yeah I agree that as a social game it comes down to the people you play. Myself I have limited experience with warhammer fantasy, but I think Orcs & Goblins would be fun to play because of the models and variety of units (I enjoyed palying them) - you just have to accept that the army doesn't always do what you want.
Bretonnia I found appealing before playing against them and now having played them twice I like their models and units, and the way they play (a middle ages type army). I think they would be an enjoyable army to paint (particularly the knights).

my favorite armies were for different reasons... wood elves because they were my first army, and they have a unique playstyle... skaven just because they were random crazy rats that were always alot of fun... and ogres... which in some ways were my most frustrating army to play, but in the end (once I "got" how they played in some respects) I was able to have alot of fun with them... against? well I've had a blast playing against pretty much everyone I've ever played against... ....well except for that one guy... but Frank and Will took care of him in BOTH systems I can only hope that 8th was as much fun as 7th....

Shannon, I like your ogre models. Seems like a fun army to build and paint since you will only need a few of each type as opposed to the 30 gaunts thing. When we played a game ogres seemed like an army that would be fun to play and aren't they overdue for a new army book like tomb kings and bretonnia?

ogres were going to be my first army and i origonally liked them but i went for lizardmen instead cause i thought they might be a little more balanced for a new player. once i get a hang of the game i think my second army will be them since they get ranks and such in the new edition

from what I understand ogres are going to be in 2011 sometime.... but the new edition should help them out considerably....

I've always enjoyed playing against Dwarfs with my High Elves....the "War of the Beard" re-matches always seem to get very bloody! Anything involving Orcs just amuses me as well...I know they're classically considered "bad" but they have a habit of pulling crazy things out!
I was also very fond of the big infantry Empire army that Ross used to bring out....the idea of men and steel against monsters and magic just made me happy.

Brets are still older are they not? As as far as I know there's no plans to do them any time soon. Hopefully this means that Lance Formation still counts as ranks, or else it will be VERY tough for those knights to break units.

Lance formation, in my opinion anyways, should still count as ranks as this is a specific exception in the bret army book which overruled normal minimum width restrictions in 7th, so no reason it wouldn't be the same in 8th....

i picked chaos dwarfs because they were such a challange to convert and paint, and i chose lizardmen because i had alot of fun playing my all-skink army, I also picked dark elves ebcause of all the wacky lists i created with them(all witch elves, all knights) I had alot of fun in 7th edition
