I think its in the Leviathan pack. So for tournament/ competitive play at least for Leviathan Chapter Approved games, is half your units as long as it’s also half your total point or less. It’s listed in the instructions for the Leviathan card deck, 3rd bullet under the Declare Battle Formations: “No more than half the number of units in a player’s army can start the battle in reserves, and the combined points total of those units cannot be more than half the total of their army.”
So 25% in points to strategic AND not more than half total number in Reserves combined.
example 20 units at 2000 pts means , 500 pts for 3 units means another 7 can go in deep strike at 2000 pts, which could mean you start with less then 1000 pts on the table if you have expensive deep strike units. I know T'au suit balls often do this.
*** SIDE NOTE - it was not clear to me what a "unit" counts as for transports with people inside. I assume that they are 2 units - 1 inside the other but they only count as 1 "drop" for deployment so I can't say that is the 100% correct RAI. Like If you have 3 drop pods with 6 units inside I think thats 9 units for half your army.

A unit inside a transport does count as two units - essentially the only exception to this is when you set the transport up on the battlefield.
Drop Pods (and unit(s) within) explicitly don't count against the Reserves limit because of their datasheet ability.

Heres a question.
If a necron overlord is attached to a unit of warriors. Do those warriors count an overlord unit?

Thanks.
Follow up question.
If a attached unit includes multiple unit keywords , like beasts (bodyguard) and infantry (leader) does the attached unit as a whole count as infantry?

The answer is yes. Found it.
So a technomancer attached to wraiths can portal through a monolith. Cause they count as infantry..

yeah the downside is those anti-infantry 2+ guns now are really good against wraiths!

That is a downside for sure. But they do have a 4++ and a 5+++ so.

Skitarii vanguard have anti infantry 4+ and can have full re rolls if you’re just looking for anti infantry weapons in general

That is a downside for sure. But they do have a 4++ and a 5+++ so. The upsides are definitely greater than the downsides. But keywords can be very fickle...they add big bonuses but also can hurt.

So the core rules would lead yoy to believe that its 500 pts for reserve and unit count for strategic reserve but the mission pack also caps strat reserve at 500pts if I recall correctly. You are limited by both points and unit count. I had a list idea for GK involving lots of cheap units to bolster unit count before finding out it didn't work lol.
