New question:
If a weapon has ANTI-Character 4+, And targets an attached unit. It will wound on a 4+ even if it doesn’t allocate wounds to the character correct?
C’Tan shard of the deceiver has anti character precision and dev wounds. If I target an attached unit the and roll 3 4+’s on the wound those dev wounds don’t have to go on the character they can go on the bodyguard unit correct?

Yes you are correct. any unit with a character would be wounded on a 4+ with anti- character, and would trigger dev wounds. You then may choose to target the character or leave them on the body guard.

They would, and since Chris was asking about the C'Tan shard of the Deciever, it has it.

I should have checked! Thanks for confirming. I thought I misunderstood how anti and devastating worked combined for a second.

Here’s a quick question
If I run a unit of aggressors with Calgar it comes with 2 honour guard attached to Calgar but the honour guard don’t have the character keyword. If the squad takes damage could I put it on the honour guard first to keep my aggressors alive or would they have to die after the aggressors but before Calgar?

Indeed, you can pile the wounds on the Honour Guard before any of the Aggressors. That's one of the (many) reasons Marneus Calgar is considered a competitive staple.

Another question
Heard on a podcast that melta damage gets applied after damage reduction. So does that mean if I shoot a knight errant at the void dragon it does the d6 plus 6 but only the d6 damage gets halved? Can someone explain the wording that allows that?

You must then apply division modifiers before applying multiplication modifiers, before applying addition and then subtraction modifiers. Since Melta is determined to be an addition modifier, it would be applied after the division modifier that is halving damage. Suppose you rolled a 5 for your d6 damage. The damage would be halved to 2.5, then rounded up to 3. Then the Melta addition modifier would apply, resulting in 3+6 for a total of 9 damage.
