Now that I've gotten both halves of my new dex... well kind of dex... I've had a chance to look over things, and there's some big changes for the girls... some massively 1000% better... some kind of "meh".... so here we go - starting with HQ
Canoness: increased by 20 points... no more 2+ AS option, no more blessed weapon but in trade off now is automatically stubborn (no more need for book of St. Lucius) and went up one WS.... lost some pretty much auto-include options from the last dex, but unlocks the command squad, so she's still awesome just for this!
.... now the command squad option is interesting.... basically the old "Celestian retinue" increased in cost by 17 points... not so good you say? well how they have included a Dialogus and a Hospitaler - so get FNP and whenever a unit makes an Act of Faith, a roll of a 6 on a dice gets you a single faith point.... so yeah, WELL worth 17 points!
Celestine - DROPPED in price by 86 points!!!! must be a downside you say? how about +2 WS, +2 BS (okay this one is meaningless given she doesn't have a gun!) , +2 I, and +2 attack... wow... MUCH better... oh and she doesn't drop your faith when she dies anymore....
The old inquisitors are replaced by the confessors... which are +1 WS + BS for an extra 30 points... and now have a 5+ save instead of their old 3+... pretty meh... but you need them to unlock henchmen... oh sorry, battle conclaves.... and given arco-flagellants are 30 points cheaper each, have FNP, and a 6+ invul... oh and can steal a ride from another unit....yeah you might want to take these....
but why would you take a confessor when for a mere 15 points more you could have Jacobus... oh sorry... Uriah Jacobus, Protector of the faith.... or simply call him "auto-include".... he unlocks everything that the other confessors do, but also gets an assault 2 shotgun and gives his unit +1 attack and FNP and rerollable faith points each turn.... is that worth 15 points??? should this army now be called Jacobus and his sisters of battle??? yeah, I don't think you'll see many SOB without Jacobus
Oh and there's Arch-confessor Kyrinov... AKA "I'm not Jacobus"... He's your typical confessor +15 points... for those 15 points you get a laud hailer, and simulacrum imperialis (so you're getting the free faith point on a six + rerolls on acts of faith) and a power weapon that reduces the opponent wounded to I1... oh and he grants all friendly units within 6" fearless....
So I could see a double confessor Jacobus + Kyrinov list perhaps - but St. Celestine and the Canoness + squad are both very good choices... so I think Kyrinov is not really going to see alot of play...
I think the more common build will be Canoness + girls and Jacobus... will alow the unlocks of the confessor + FNP to two different units... In fact, I'll likely be running something very similar once I get some of the non-girl models in my army... and now that arco-flagellants got exponentially better!
