I think the actually available stuff in LGS stuff (ie the plastic) is a pretty decent price. 20 tomb guard cost pretty similar to 5 howling banshees as sad as that is....
The made to order from GW stuff's crazy, and I see no need to buy from them, when there is much better stuff from 3d printing or other third parties.
I do worry about new player entry.

Ya looking over the kits I assumed I misunderstood when it said "this metal and plastic kit" I assumed that was a copy paste typo from the old box but it actually looks like in 2024 they will be selling metal cast models which is literally insane to me.
I currently am at the curious stage and I'll see if I dust off the old high elves.

For what it's worth, I am pretty sure that High Elves are one of the supported armies. As such, if you can borrow the rulebook and the army list book from someone, it's probably worth trying at least once. Up to you though.
Also, I'm not sure if it's allowed to be mentioned here, but I've heard that there is some sort of WArHAmmer wikiPEDIA that could possibly be updated some point with more info to help you along. Then again, what do I know?
