Okay... elites... You get a whopping THREE choices here....
Gone from the elites are the assassins, elite inquisitors, arcos and death-cults.... well since you're taking Jacobus you still get this, but you get it without taking a slot!!! awesome eh? oh you still don't get a vindicare assassin... they're running with their newer, cooler grey knight friends and pretending they don't know you anymore...
Alright... so choice one... priests....
well they were a free spot before and are still one now.. and are five points more expensive now... before you took them if you were a masochist and wanted to run penitent engines... now you don't need them to unlock anything... so why would you take them? free Rosarius.... hmmm... that's nice... free grenades... also good... extra melta for five points less... also solid... still gives hatred... okay.. not so bad....
So they're pretty good... nice upgrade if you've got the spare points.... but from the looks of things are they're own little KP... so could hurt you in the end... but hey, you're playing sisters.. you give out KP like orks anyways!!!! ;D
choice two: celestians
Celestians jumped up in price by what seems to be the standard 15 points per squad... Jacobus made me love paying 15 more points... battle sisters not so much... so let's see what we gained:
stats: lost one point of initiative (wait... why?) and gained +1 attack... okay, that's pretty worth it.... gained the 6++ lascannon save (meh) and got free grenades (thanks emperor!) everything else is pretty much the same.... oh... no more holy hatred.... yep... lost that... and your act of faith makes you as strong as space marines for one turn... everyone loves space marines right?
So Celestians will give you the illusion that you can fight things... well you'll fight things as good as assault marines if you pull off the act of faith... don't fall for it... bring your meltas and do what you've always done.... you're still five T3 girls in power armor... close combat kills you dead.... especially now that you're awesome S3 attacks are slower and no longer allow you to auto hit on 3's.... oh and that act of faith that used to give you an invul? nope.. gone too....
choice three: repentia
In the old dex, these were not used. If you saw them on the table you shot them dead because they were scantily clad girls who didn't have armor (4+ invul was nice though)... and had slow as molasses evicerators and ran their slow way across the board without benefit of transport because they specifically were not allowed to take one.
what's changed?
well they can't take a dedicated transport, but nothing's stopping them from taking someone else's transport....
they DROPPED in price by 20 points per squad... nice... must be a downside right?
Well they gained +1 attack, fearless, FLEET, FNP, 6++ and their act of faith lets them still get their attacks in if they die before they strike... oh, and they're not 0-1 anymore....
still have rage, so you need to watch they don't get led around (like make them ride in someone's transport?) but a MUCH better choice than in the last book....
so no finecast or plastic and they're expensive single models? well that seems perfectly reasonable GW... thank you may I have another.....
final verdict: priests - better! Celestians - meh Repentia - I'd use them if I could afford to buy them!
