Was down at Nexus to pick up my old world books and noticed there was quite a pile of old world stuff there. I'm definitely going to give it a try, wonder how many other people locally will pick it up?
I've got the 3 base books and some armies I could use, I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

Sean and I got our first game in on Thursday. 1250 points to match what comes in new box sets. It was awesome. His High Elves vs my super awesome night goblins.

From what Connor and Matt said it's pretty much 6th ed WHFB, which was probably my favourite edition.
I'd already own the tomb king box set if it wasn't for those friggin ugly sculpt skeletons giving me pause.
We'll see how many times I can walk by the shelf before I just impulse buy it anyways

I've been working on some proxy Tomb Kings stuff until I can actually get the set.

I mostly played 6th through to the end times and yeah this edition went back to 6th for sure but with tons of tweaks for the better.

I have Forces of Fantasy, Ravening Hordes, and the Bretonnian Arcane Journal so far (waiting on the Bretonnian Box I ordered to come in still)
I still have Dark Elves, O&G, Chaos, and Bretonnians so I'm set for a bit.
I've been making movement trays mostly lately (still need to upsize to 30mm since I started these focusing on 6th edition base sizes) and will have to figure out a cost effective source to upsize the bases so I can use the armies in either edition
Once that's sorted out I plan to actually spend this year trying to get myself painting again and actually finish at least 1 army

Going over the rules, they look pretty good. There's a lot of good ideas in there.
It definitely feels a lot like 6th Ed, close enough that keeping track of the differences will probably be tough.
The army lists and special rules ect have me feeling a bit skeptical, but it's hard to say till you've played some games how they will really work.

Those are pretty nice. Really I think movement trays with spacers will work fine for this, especially to get folks started
Of course if both armies are based in the old style then there's nothing stopping them from just playing as is.
I've decided to base my orcs in 30x30 mostly because they weren't already based and they didn't rank up for crap on their 25x25 anyhow.

Surprised to hear it is like 6th, haven't picked up the books yet. Can anyone tell me if they kept the random charge distance or did they go back to 2x your movement for a charge?

It's your movement plus roll 2d6 and take the highest. So it's pretty reliable to get a medium range charge.

So, how long till we have our first escalation campaign or tournament? I'm thinking of building some terrain from the old Citadel terrain makers book to leave at SBT for people having pickup games, things like the little houses or Orc village huts.
