It looks like the winner of the recent Toronto Winter Open 40K Open GT was caught cheating on the livestream. There were numerous violations including misplaying stratagem timing, movement shenanigans, misplaying abilities etc.
The stream has been taken down, but its an interesting example of how cheating can occur without any dice manipulation. Also a reminder of the importance of knowing your rules.
The TOs revoked the win, the Golden Ticket and placed a one-year ban.

It always boggles my mind how someone would cheat playing a game of toy soldiers.
Like how pathetic do you have to be to do that?

Not to mention when a camera is pointed at you.

I think that some players have not actually read the core rules or the Rules Commentary. The Rules Commentary is a bit of a gaming IED - it should be part of the Core Rules and not something to surprise the player. I also think that some have not actually read their Stratagems, army rules and datasheets on something other than a mobile device, which makes it hard to read "the fine print."
I've had players tell me things that are flat-out wrong with great conviction, because they've been told something by someone else. I've also made mistakes. I played our first tournament with my Hellblasters only shooting one shot each instead of two. After that July tourney I sat down and actually read the rules instead of breezing through with previous edition heuristics.
Having said that, a player should know their rules. Buy the codex. Read it. Understand that Stratagems have restrictions in terms of timing. Bring your codex to the game. Or else you might get caught on livestream...

I think if you're playing at a hot enough level that you're getting in first place at big tournaments then there probably aren't a lot of the honest mistakes going on that you might see in more casual play. There was also a thread on Reddit where the "tea" was that this guy has done this before tbh

and if all your "mistakes" are in your favour, that's also a big red flag... oh I made 6 honest mistakes that are all making me win... sure thing buddy.
screw up like a legend... make all your mistakes hurt your army... do it on stream too just so everyone can point and laugh at your repeated punching yourself. No regrets here...lol.. okay maybe a couple

I am not defending the guy - it’s just hard to believe that someone would intentionally misplay Stratagems on a live stream - it’s going to get caught! Some folks spend their days watching those just to catch mistakes.
