I am one of the people who got a bretonnia box. I just got busy at work but am able to paint them a little at night. If you want to try the game out, I would be happy to play against unpainted minis, or I could lend you an army, if you are still assembling.

I am confused by GW's sales model here. Like I get that Old World is catered towards former players that have old miniatures, but making it difficult to get any of the new stuff really is really not great. I've been looking for physical copies of the rulebooks and the forces of fantasy books for months and everywhere is sold out. Yeah, I think it was wildly more popular than they were anticipating. I think SBT has a copy of forces of fantasy, although it might be gone now.

For what it's worth, while I didn't get any models, I did get the rulebook, as I have a ton of ogre models left over. I just would need to track down some square bases for them, as they are all AoS packaging so have rounds, hahaha. I figure it can be my next project, after I've done my 1000 point World Eater force for 40K.
As a bonus, the ogre rules are free, so that's good. My only worry is that if this gets a second edition at some point, they may not get rules at that point, as they are only a legacy faction.

They are on 40mm rounds right? So they take up the same space as squares, if you put them in a rectangular movement tray. That's what I did for my Witch Elves.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are 40mm round. Well, the Tyrant is 50mm round, while in Old World he is 40mm square, hahaha. Well, I have a spare Tyrant unassembled that I could use for that purpose.
I'd have to assemble a bunch of stuff anyway, so like I said, it would be my next project perhaps.

A narrative game day, I still have all the old campaign books from WFB Nice! I like this. And team games, those are really fun

I'd have to assemble a bunch of stuff anyway, so like I said, it would be my next project perhaps. With the bases- I would say this to everyone- I wouldn't sweat a ton; this is my personal perspective, but I would make a tray that leaves them fitting in the footprint they need to be, and drop magnets on the bottom. Done. (Good ol' GW has taken us through a- I want to say rollercoaster, but an actual haunted house might be more fitting as hobbiests- as far as bases go. In my opinion, since the only consistent thing they have done is keep changing things- as local players don't sweat too much about this, and remember movement trays.) *I remember making every one of my 200+ Skaven WYSIWYG and basing them all, then having ZERO rules as WHFB was dissolved and the game was essentially suspended for a year, and FLGS group went faithfully forward with the meta, but there was legit no points system(!!?) and then GW PPRRROMMISSED we wouldn't have to change bases. Then they broke that promise. Then after everyone went through that, what are they doing? Wrong- even worse- lol- not just saying "go back" but nah, 3rd new iteration of bases. So get movement trays that fit the footprint, and spend you precious time & money on either trying to play the game or something productive in the hobby, vs trying to keep up with the Lords of Change up at HQ, who are themselves being pulled around ultimately by $laneesh. My 2 cents.
