are the saurus on 25by25? My broher was arguing that they are because the big core units usually are but I brought up stormvermin. Is it a good idea to put them in a horde with spears? And how big is the slaan priest???
Thanks for the help.

yes saurus are 25mm bases, skinks are 20 as far as i remember. Spears give you an extra row of attack but horde you get extra attacks cause of horde formation anyway and you loose the 6+ parry save you get from hand weapon shield. and the slann is 50MM i think cause he is like 4 temple guard which is the same as a saurus

i play lizzies. and i dont use spears i use hand/sheild. i put them in horde formation i use 4 rows of 10 so 40 in a unit. i like the exrta armor save they alredy have a 5+ scally skin armor save so this makes it a 4+ because they cant shoot they have to walk all the way across the feild and shooting is there downfall. have you played against lizzies befor? if not maybe frank could bring an army one thursday so you can see them played.

no problem, its a toss up them do you want the extra attacks or the 6+ save. extra attacks are nice but with saurus you are going last against almost any one so will you get all the attacks is the thing 6+ save doesn't sound like much but it will help them survive. But do what you want i havn't actually been playing in a while

I've played Tommy with a no saurus army i thought it would be easy but I was proofed wrong. I lost. I'm trying out a quick army I made in 1-2 minutes. 4 units of 40 saurus spears in horde form. I have the slaan priest.
That's all I know it's a bad list I'm gonna majestic a better one I'm really just trying them out before I buy a 300 dollar army.

ya thats always good. i might end up putting my lizard men army up for sale, but ya skinks are pretty good with poison and being so cheap i do like saurus better my self but i like some skinks in there also, salamander are really good and pretty cheap points wise and i love the stegadons also (although i dont think they would stand up against most of the 8th ed monster, since they seem to be on stairoids)

ya sallies are amazing. stagadons die very fast. and the slann is the best mage in the game. use lore of life steal 6's and +1 dice per roll.

Lizzies are my competitive army for tournies and, IMHO, one of the best all round armies in the game. I personally would have to agree on the view of h/w & shield vs spears. While both have the 4+ armour save, the former also have a 6+ ward save and are cheaper. Thanks to the horde formation rule, you get 3 ranks of attacks anyhow so it now works out better not to use spears (after I assembled & painted a full unit of 30+ based on the previous edition's rules!!). While I have always fielded at least one big block of saurus, the support units are just too good to turn down and also make the game a lot more fun than just "heh diddle, diddle, straight up the middle" ;D
