I saw this posted as a good High Elf all-comers list. Does it look decent for 8th? It's at 2500 pts, so a bit of trimming to get it down to 2400. Just a starting point for a discussion.
Prince - Barded Steed, Dragon Armour, Shield, Giant Blade, Helm of Fortune, Plucker Pendant, Talisman of Loec - 286 Archmage - Level 4, Life Magic, Dispel Scroll - 280 Battle Standard Bearer - Barded Steed, Great Weapon, Heavy Armour, Shield, Dragonhelm, Dawnstone, Amulet of Light - 190
30 Spearelves - Full Command, Gleaming Pennant - 300 14 Archers - Musician, Standard - 169 14 Archers - Musician - 159
14 Swordmasters - Bladelord, Standard, Banner of Sorcery - 284 11 White Lions - Full Command, Banner of Eternal Flame - 205 8 Silver Helms - Musician, Shields - 192 5 Dragon Princes - 150 1 Tiranoc Chariot - 85

I wouldn't use the great weapon on the BSB... keep him survivable - he won't get to use his shield because in 8th he is forced to use any special weapon....
wondering why you've gone with standard archers and a block of spears when seaguard are both? (gives you the options to have a couple big blocks that can also shoot)
those white lions are a very small unit and fairly easy to kill at range..... not sure if they're worth bringing at that size... swordsmasters are always a priority target so maybe bulk up that unit so you can take more casualties?
otherwise looks good... nice to see someone NOT bring phoenix guard in a high elf list... makes things a little different!

Personally, from a purely competitive point of view - I'd take a horde of 30 spearelves and a 20-25 sized unit of Seaguard with the flaming banner for core. As for special, the reason why you see Phoenix guard so often is that they're meant to setup charges in most cases and to otherwise anchor your army. You want the whit lions around 20-25 sized to take advantage of their STR and stubborn, Life also helps bring this home. Sadly Swordmasters with the banner of sorcery at such a small number would die to enemy shooting / magic and/or they'd just throw a horde into them and pick them apart. 5+ save isn't going to save you in most situations. I'd also suggest turning those Silver Helms into Dragon princes, and getting said unit of Dragon Princes Mus and banner with the Ellyrion (can you say never losing a knight to charging through forests? ) So you'd probably want to look at a unit size of 8-10 for the Dragon Princes. As far as character set up, I'd personally prefer Greatweapons on your Lord and BsB over the +1 armor of a shield considering they're already on barded mounts. The Giant Blade only gives you one more strength then a non magical great weapon, and costs 5 times the amount... if you're -really- worried about magical attacks just take a greatweapon and the Amulet of light (Which I see you already have on your BSB, which means you're set in that regard.) Everything else looks pretty solid overall. So my suggestions in short form : Combine the archer units into a unit of Seaguard with the flaming banner, that way they don't fall over the instant someone charges them. Get some more bodies in those special units - 20+ Or bust Dragon Princes are better then Silver helms in everyway. 9 points for +1 WS, Init, A, Ldship and armor save is a steal to say the least. Keep your character offensive setups as cheap as possible, greatweapon and amulet of light - use the rest of their points on survivability to keep those T3 guys alive in combat longer.

Thanks guys. Wasn't exactly my list to start, it came from here. I was bouncing around a few threads on Warseer and a couple pointed back to this list saying it was a good build. I was thinking a few of the same points you brought up also, and was talking with my son about how he wants to build out his elves.

Have a good example of what I was talking about in a list designed I posted up for what I'd do if I were to go with high elves for my next army - takes a lot of the points I suggested and puts it into a list. Would like to get an eagle or two in the list, but points are so tight in a High elf army.

Your list looked good and solid. I thought the list I posted was kind of all over the place, though it was built with a heavier calvary theme. Those elves are pricey! Hard to fit it all in.
