I think its cause of random movement things (fanatics are on round bases)

Their base shape doesn't matter, does it? how much are these things going to cost is my question?

Their base shape doesn't matter, does it? how much are these things going to cost is my question? Square bases dominate the Warhammer figures because it is so important for things to rank up. Round bases don't really make that possible.

The big notable exception for WHFB having round bases is the goblin fanatic, to represent the random movement and because under the rules they cannot rank up... so the round base is actually more appropriate for them.... As the mangler squig is essentially a giant fanatic, I can see why they wouldn't want to deviate from this, so would explain the round base.
and conversion to 40k orks is going to be super easy (so there's a little bonus for us ork players too!)

Kool! I wonder if they are golf ball conversions? ;D I should probably rebase my manglers onto the round bases.
