Well if we're talking tactics to use against hard units, you don't get much harder than the Thunder Hammer Storm Shield Terminators (often abbreviated TH/SS on internet forums) So if something's tough enough to get it's own accronym, it must be pretty cool right? well unfortunately, yes, they are THAT cool... they'll wreck anything in combat, and are insanely survivable with that 2+/3+ At least they're slow right? no... unfortunately they're not, as they're normally sporting one of those cool landraider things you may have heard about that launch these lethal death machines amongst your lines turn two... So how do you beat the TH/SS Termies??? I'd offer some useful advice here... if I'd ever been effective at countering them....

Those terminators are no match for gaunts! (with swarms of sharp pointy teeth and claws they are sure to scratch the terminators armour and annoy them considerably)

Honestly Ive played a lots of game against Trevor and you need to be lucky and kill his LR first then you fire them to kill at least 3 and then you need to charge them with your best assault unit and it better be something extremly good.

Dark Eldar wyches laugh at them as well. Oh, look. You have 1 attack each and I get a 4+ invul. Might not kill them, but will tie them up pretty much indefinitely.

I suppose Tau have the advantage of being able to field a fair amount of medium to long range AP2 or better, potentially hitting on 2+ or having their shots twin-linked, and always wounding on 2+, making TH/SS in 1 LR seem somewhat less threatening because they can potentially be stranded fairly early.
Having said that, even then they're doing their job as fire sponges, easing the pressure on the rest of the army. Forces the opponent to make some hard choices, I suppose, particularly when it comes to fire control.
