Well I'm not going to do fluff, just thought i would post my first battle and how it went and what i thought of it.
It was me vs Shas'O D'Narb. So some tau on tau action lol. He had 1000 points, and i had 1200, Since it was my first time and the 200 didn't get me much. We rolled Command and control. He got to deploy and go first. He put his board sides on top of the fortifications, his command unit one a hill near the other corner on his side with two bodyguard and tonnes of shield drones. 6 firewarriors, a devilfish and pathfinders near the middle on his side and infiltrated kroot behind the pillbox in the middle.
I puts 12 firewarriors right beside my objective and they stayed there all game pretty much. I took his lead and put my boardsides on the fortifications my devilfish with 12 more warriors right beside the fortifications and a hammer head right beside that. I put my commander on the fortifications also. Opted to put my three crisis suits in reserve to deep strike near his objective since it only had three broadsides and two shield drones.
First turn he took out a boardside and a shield drone. I took out one pathfinder. The he took out the railgun on my hammer head and immobilized my deilfish, I deep striked right beside his broadsides and took out one and i think i has already taken out a shield drone so he needed to take a check and failed. The broadsides ran the rest of the game and just made it off the board at the end even tho there were only like 12 inches from the edge lol.
The rest of the game we kind of shot at each other. He killed a couple of my firewarriors but they kept holding and i killed some drones and pathfinders. He ended up running his kroot to get his objective so it would be a tie but i tank shocked them at the end. MY crisis suits contested his and my fire warriors held mine so i won.
There was some more but i don't remember it all.
It was good and lots of fun. I think it was totally different then fantasy but we were both shooty armies and my fantasy army is fighty with some magic so it makes them totally different. Which i like cause i don't want to play the same game twice. I like that i can play to different games
