Ok more random reading of the blood angels codex and i see umm land raiders with deep striking. Does anyone use this? is it me or is the image of a huge land raider falling out of the sky kind of rediculus. But interesting. lol

Far as I'm aware, no one uses this option... as in it doesn't really work all that well....
but hey, I'd love playing against a list that didn't have their landraider on the table, deepstriking in to potentially mishap itself and give me free points... lol... yeah, no one ever does it!

oh i know its kind of useless anyway since most of the stuff you would have in a land raider, terminators or assault squads, death company or other things, can deep strike anyway, and the things with jump packs had d6 less scatter and can re roll for reserves. I just thought it was funny and wanted to know if anyone used it. i guess maybe on a dawn of war game and you put it in a place where its not going to mishap but even then

I could see it being used if you were playing Dawn of War and went first....otherwise it's WAY too risky in terms of scattering....imagine the points lost to a poor roll!

If chaos could do this I would try it out just for the fun if it. But probably not in a tournament because I would never risk loosing an extremely high point thing on hitting some terrain. Plus it's armour value 14 all around you don't even need to deep strike.

well Im playing Daemons and I DS every single unit I have and I never lost one you just need to learn how to DS... Its not because you DS that you need to be 2inches away from an other unit... Its just bad to DS a land raider because its suppose to attract fire power and also you never know if you roll shitty your Land raider can end up showing turn 5....

I've never used a Landraider to draw firepower though. I primarily purchase them to block LoS to other things in my army and to transport things which specifically can't be moved otherwise-
They are also nice against certain armies that lack proper ways to handle them (mostly the armies that don't have melta readily available) but against Tau or someone with massed Lance firepower for example, putting a Landraider on the board and expecting it to last more then a turn to me is a waste of points... at least against melta they have to get close.

I'm with Tom of this one, a Land raider should only be taken as a mean of extending the threat range of whatever unit is embarked to 21 inches. Since the only armies that are going to throw their firepower at a LR are the ones that have a strong chance of simply annihilating it (Tau, DE, Guard, or any unit packing Haywire, Lance, Ordnance or Melta Effects)
Deepstriking a LR, while sounding cool in theory, is really just a gimmick.

Trust me Ive seen a lot of player wasting they shot on a LR.... and even good firepower like Tau and Guard wont one shoot it if you have smoke most of the time... I think its a lot of point to block LOS if you use it only for that... anyways we are all playing different and Tom is a good player so Im sure its a good way to...
