Meh, comp won't matter for me... I'm not good enough at this game to be that competitive!
I'm not sure it was a "business decision" though... a lot of people have a couple different casters, or units they don't take in their army... encouraging you to bring three different lists I think also encourages you to play "out of the box" a bit, so you use those under-used units and casters because you want a point or two of comp... and we all know how even one different unit or warcaster can completely change your list!
Like I said earlier, I have only one army for this system now, and not a fully painted one either if I have to bring three lists... hell it won't be competitive either if I have to bring three different lists... (it's hard to have that many GOOD options just lying around... I usually buy enough models to run the list I want and that's it...)
If you really, really don't like that feature of the tourney, let Mike know... these things are never set in stone you know!

So here's the thing, you can still proxy things I"m assuming? From what I understand only the lists themselves need to be different. Also in comparison to a 40k tournament that has list composition rules is it that different? At times you're forced to pick up models or make do with the ones you have right?

If we're allowed to proxy that would make it easier ;D

Yeah, having to run 3 different casters just put me off this one.
Let us know how it turns out.

I think we need to talk to Mike about the set up on this one. I don't want this tourney to damage Warmachine in Kingston.

ummm you don't HAVE to run three different casters... Mike was pretty clear about this on the weekend... you can run the same list all three games if you want... there's clearly an advantage in doing so (given it's a whole lot easier to get good with one list than trying three totally different armies / casters)... the option is there... it is not being forced upon you...
overreaction, or just not showing up because that one option is there, is a sure way to send a message to Mike that it's not profitable to run warmahordes tournies... (and standard warmahordes tournies allow you and encourage you to bring TWO lists already!... this is just expanding it to three lists) Would it be what I prefer? Well it's a whole lot easier for me to paint one or two different lists... and I can probably do okay if I stick to one list only, but I'm more likely to do less well if I have to try and do well with three different lists... so I have the CHOICE... I can try and paint up three different lists and go have fun... or bring one list and go have fun... or bring two lists and go have fun...
either way I think I'll go have fun...
I'm certainly not going to stay home over something this minor... I'd like to encourage more tournies....

Ahh...the way I was reading it, from both here and the recent post on the Nexus site, was that the 3 list was mandatory since it stated you had to play 1 list per game. I still think the major issue is the auto-comp hit for not owning more models that has most people upset. I'm only speaking for myself, but knowing I'm going in with a poor chance of winning due to my inexperience with the game is just compounded when you add in the fact that I'm going to lose points from the start for not really being able to field 3 drastically different lists with the models I have puts me even further down the list for a chance to win overall or best general. And unless I get a good chunk of painting done (which I am trying) I won't even be in the running for Best Painted. BUT I still plan on coming because I do enjoy the game and I could get lucky

There is nothing that has been said thus far that comp is being added to your battle points.
That is an assumption... Mike actually hasn't said that...
it is also an assumption that you will get a comp hit for not bringing three lists... or what that comp hit will entail... Mike certainly didn't tell me anything of that nature... in fact when I asked him how much comp was "worth"... he laughed and said "a billion!"
i think it might be a separate thing altogether, but that's just a guess on my part...

Ahh...again took it as a similar thing to 40K/WFB Comp that was always factored into overall score.

...I think that's what everyone is assuming, however no one has actually asked Mike yet!
I'm just saying that we shouldn't assume anything at this point... we're all at Nexus ALOT... if we have concerns / questions, we should be asking him!

From what I heard on the weekend, comp was going to be a major factor, and by not running three separate lists, there would be a hefty penalty to overall score. If I actually owned three different lists worth of stuff, I'd be totally tempted to do so, but as we've seen with a one day, three game format, a few points can mean everything.
Maybe I'm just too competitive about these things, but I don't see why I should be penalized because I run one faction, one caster.
And Shannon, you could be completely right and this is just an overreaction on my part. There's still more than two weeks to go before this even runs, and if I'm put wrong about it, I'd be more than happy to try and show up.

If anyone is desperate to get 3 lists done, I'm sure I could let some stuff be borrowed....I'm pretty close to being able to run 3 factions, and I have a lot of choice with my Menites, and at least one other valid list with Cryx...
