Some things I was sure surprised about that came from a big megabattle we had last night. With a tourney coming up next week, I figured it would be important to throw these out... these are ones I remembered either myself or someone else at the table being taken aback by... I think I'm even missing a few that came up: - If your BSB refuses a challenge he still gets to count as a BSB for break checks, use any gear he might have (ie: crown of command) or any magic banner... in fact his leadership score is the ONLY thing not used other than his attacks being missed... I was totally convinced this was not the way it worked, but I guess that's a holdover from last edition - when you declare a charge and make it... you can position yourself anywhere on that unit that maximizes... and it doesn't matter how much distance you cover... example: the treekin want to charge the mauaraders with a big wheel just to clip the end of the horde (due to a friendly unit in the way) but that end of the horde is X inches away... they make X inches with the charge, can execute the wide wheel (even though that's much more distance already) then move to the opposite side of the maurader horde so long as it maximizes... perfectly legal even though I think it tripled their movement - multiple units engage a warmachine. You don't have to maximize, or split evenly the number of models from each unit that fight the warmachine (6 models only are allowed to fight a warmachine - but it can be six models from one unit and 0 from the other) At the moment I can't think of some of the others that came up....

I definitely agree on the movement issue with charging and it was one of the biggest holdovers I had to "unlearn" from the previous edition along with retiring characters doing everything except adding their leadership to the unit after refusing a challenge. At this point, I often look up rules even when I am certain since I have had too many instances where it was simply habit that gave me that false sense of certainty ;D
Another noteworthy difference that came up was overrunning or reforming after combat. The only troops obliged to pursue or overrun are frenzied troops. Hatred no longer forces you to pursue or overrun. Just pass the leadership check and you are off to the races!
