I decided I'm going to try and get my BA army into a playable state for the start of 6th, and a 1k core list seems like the place to start
Libby - Shield/Unleash
Priest - Claw
6x Death Company - 2x TH/Bolter, 4x BP/CCW, Rhino, Dozer
5x ASM - Melta, Infernus Pistol, Razorback, LasPlas
5x ASM - Melta, Infernus Pistol, Razorback, LasPlas
Baal Pred - Flamestorm, Dozer
Dreadnought - 2x TL Autocannon
This is what I kinda want to run simply as a fun army to paint and play, it's a pretty balanced all arounder list imo. However, it doesn't really need a USR (I have FC everywhere, maybe Move Through Cover on the DC? that's all I can think of)
There's a few tweaks I've been thinking about and I'm not sure if their good, bad or in-different and I'm hoping some fresh opinions can help.
Tweak 1) Drop the Heavy Dread, Dozers from the Rhino and Pred and both THs from the DC. Add 2 PWs to DC (To take advantage of Ini 5 + Grenades), Add a Furioso or DC Dread in a Pod (Using my Swing as a 4th Troop or 2nd Elite)
That makes the list look like:
Libby - Shield/Unleash
Priest - Claw
Dread - Talons, Pod
6x Death Company - 2x BP/PW, 4x BP/CCW, Rhino
5x ASM - Melta, Infernus Pistol, Razorback, LasPlas
5x ASM - Melta, Infernus Pistol, Razorback, LasPlas
Baal Pred - Flamestorm
UPDATE:
The above list looks really punchy, and very "In your face", but it also lacks a shooting phase presence with only the LasPlas and the odd melta or flamestorm shot. I'd almost be tempted to go assault cannons on the razors but then I'm really stretched for AT, especially vs AV12.
Tweak 2)
As Above, but take a DC Dread for fleet and instead of getting the pod for the dread upgrade the ASM Sarges to IFP/PW.
Ultimately even more punchy, but the demeching power of the Rifleman keeps me thinking without him I'll be up a creek if my partner doesn't bring lots of AT
Tweak 3)
TH swap for PWs. Drop Dozer from Rhino, use 40 extra to put DC in another LasPlas instead of Rhino
Don't like this one because while it's the most shooty, I have nothing against high toughness in combat, so any MC or walker that gets into combat with me will kill the whole squad or tarpit it for the remainder of the game
