Except Daemon, What is the most dangerous army according to you now and why?

Glad that codicil about daemons was put in there because they don't seem to have been harmed at all by 8th and might even be better! As for the most dangerous army out there (non-daemon), it is hard to say as I think there is a tremendous balance right now. There are a couple of nasty combos like Teclis with the lore of shadow buffing spear elves so they are S8 with re-rolls to hit but no one army really stands out in my mind. Any heavy infantry or shooting based army is definitely better and all armies subject to psychology are much better off with being able to hang in their against fear causers if they lose and are outnumbered. While I may change my view over the next few weeks, I don't think there is one army (daemons excepted) that really stands out in 8th.

my limited view on things:
#1 - Daemons obviously... I think 8th made them even worse.... didn't think it was possible.. but it is.
#2 - high elves - Teclis is more broken than before with his irresistable + immune to first miscast - basically throw six dice and watch things die every magic phase. they rock at magic, ASF + high initiative made them rock at combat, supporting attacks made swordsmasters pretty rough, and even spearmen the horde to be feared (50 ASF attacks likely re-rolling to hit? wow... )
The other heavy hitters:
Warriors of chaos - fighting in two ranks made warriors gross... increased charge range made them no longer slow and avoidable, frenzy changes made chaos knights harder to bait... etc. etc.
Dark Elves - rock at combat, thunderstomping hydra, uber-magic, unkillable generals... yep, they're still rock solid
lizardmen - hordes of saurus, improved poison, slaan magic... ouch...
skaven - already had some advantages with no-partial templates (but now that's the rule) horde benefits them greatly, especially with the FAQ clarifying that strength and numbers counts for steadfast. rat ogres are even a viable choice now... yeah, rat ogres... who knew... they were already a solid army, and even improved under 8th with the ability to run a LOT of cheap characters now...
The middle:
most everyone else improved considerably... Bretonnia took an obvious hit in being able to break through on the charge, but I think they have to change their tactics... dwarfs improved big time with their mobility, ogres got alot better!
The bottom:
tomb kings - just give these guys a new book already... 8th boned them... heh heh...
wood elves - sigh.

Yeah but usually Special Character are not use in tornament so High elves won't use Teclis.

even without Teclis, they're still fairly rough in the magic phase (and there's the item that negates the first miscast as well).... I've seen high elf special characters quite a bit in tournies actually

granted I see the guy that blows himself up alot more than Teclis... because I think everyone realizes that Teclis is a pretty stiff comp hit!

Special Characters are allowed at all tourneys I've been to in the region. Teclis is certainly a stiff comp hit, but there are grosser things that you can do. I doubt a special character alone is worth 0's across the board for soft scores.....
The High Elf lists that are commonly running 3 Special Characters (Teclis, Caradryan and Korhil) on the other hand....
I might just do that with my ringer armies anyway.....

.... yeah just one special character usually isn't a zero... maybe Teclis would be... Thorek has a bad reputation for the dwarfs... Mannfred the elder usually gets a frown or two.... I've seen someone bring the entire van carstein family once - Mannfred, Vlad, Konrad and Isabella... course it was at 2k and there wasn't much of an army left after all those points!
And if you look at the wood elf special characters it's actually kind of funny - they'd be a comp increase if anyone actually brought them! (Orion is especially craptacular!)

....have done some reassessing on the VC, and sites such as Bell of Lost Souls and Carpe Nocturn seem to have verified what I had been thinking, that the vampires have certainly taken a big hit this edition....
strange that a few rules changes can knock an army from Tier 1 so quickly! (I realize there were alot of complaints in 7th about VC being overpowered, so not expecting the vamps to get alot of sympathy here!)... the FAQ to unstable / crumble, the changes to magic (especially bound spells), changes to calvary, changes to fear, and the stepping up rule have certainly changed the game for this army!
I for one am looking forward to playing my VC more to see the changes... I kind of agreed that they were too much (in some builds anyways) in 7th, so interested in seeing how the army build has to change to keep them on the competitive side...

I really thing that you can't do anything if you don't have blood knights... with that many attacks now troops of 60 ghoul dies in 2 turns...
