Mantic has put up a Kickstarter for their Dreadball futuristic sports game. They are almost funded already. Looks interesting. Dreadball Kickstarter

There is some slight interest in Trenton where we have a semi-active Blood Bowl community. The project reached funding shortly after it went live so obviously some people out there are very interested in it.
I do like their models but know nothing of the game play.
Personally, I haven't made up my mind. I still have a large amount of love for Blood Bowl and not enough time to play it.

The author of Dreadball, Jake Thornton, was a lead on Blood Bowl. He's also done Mantic's Dwarf King's Hold and Project Pandora which have been well reviewed. The bits I've read have said this was the game he's always wanted to do. They're supposed to have some gameplay videos up as the Kickstarter goes on, so there might be a better sense of the game in the coming weeks.

Comments --> here<-- from the designer about how Dreadball is similar and different from Blood Bowl. Article also has a link to a discussion thread talking about the rules in a Q&A format.

With 25 days to go, this Dreadball Kickstarter is still rolling along. Almost $155k and 920 backers. $80 still gets you the basic game with 2 teams. $150 gets you the deluxe with all four teams, all MVPs and extra goodies (pic below). I think Wes and I are going to split a set. Looks pretty fun from what I've read of the playtesting. There are videos coming soon that show gameplay. Kicktraq has it coming in at around $450k so there should be lots of goodies to come.

I have to agree that I am now hyped about this game. Several of us down in the Trenton area have pooled resources and started at the $420 Showboater level and have since upped it from there as people want teams. Mostly it started with our Blood Bowl players but it has been spreading to other players now.

Dreadball gameplay video is up --> video <-- And here's a link to the designer's blog where he talks about the game and upcoming 'seasons' (3 expansions planned, 12 races, multi-hex models, 3d terrain) --> Quirkworthy <-- Kickstarter is closing in on $200,000 which is the level where Season 2 kicks into production. $400,000 gets all of Season 2 goals on the go. Still 20 days left.

And --> here <-- is a blog post for the sculptor of most of the Dreadball minis. He has some awesome images of The Corporation team. The blog is en francais; Google translate works for those unilinguals in the crowd, but it's mostly pictures anyhow.

I'm glad I'm in for a Striker on this cause the idea of getting all four of the Season 2 teams for $50 is pretty good.
Given the amount of teams I have for Blood Bowl and what they've cost me, this DreadBall Kickstarter is a freaking steal!
Have you guys put a bid in yet?

Yeah, I'm in at Striker plus some extras. We'll see what stretch goals they come up with. Someone had posted that both Sedition Wars and Relic Knights were at almost the same spot as Dreadball after 15 days on Kickstarter and both of those finished over $900K. They put up some pledge levels for stores yesterday. Contact them for wholesale pricing, or something like that, I believe. Some of the latest stretch goals: Wyn Greth'zki MVP Judwan Season 2 race Season 1 goalie upgrades

Dreadball Kickstarter reached $250k, meaning they will put a full 14 member team for all of the Season 1 Teams in the Striker package (Corporation, Marauders, Forge Fathers, Veer-Myn) and make all Season 2 Teams (Female Corp, Judwan, so far - Z'zor and Robots to come) buy one get one free for $25 for an 8-fig team + the 2 figs of each you get from Striker. I've upped my pledge to $250 and it will get me 8 full teams, all MVPs, hex bases for all, and a few other goodies I'm leaving room for. Phew! Z'Zor team Coaches

They're very tongue-in-cheek with a lot of their Season 2 stuff. Also... Veer-myn coach = TMNT Master Splinter Wyn Greth'zki - Geth + Wayne Gretzky Mee'kal Judwan - Michael Jordan
I think it's only going to get crazier.
