ouch!
looks like a pretty good list to me! two oldbloods will definitely give some combat punch... and Frank showed in the tourney just how rough it can be to face a saurus horde!

yeah i never fought frank in the tourny, i guess no one wanted lizardmen on lizardmen action lol. yeah i was thinking with all of them and give them the handweapon so they get the parry save i would get a lot of attacks back since they are int 1 lol

The rear rank will die anyway due to slow Init, armour save is identical and the number of models fighting is the same when you charge. Better to have the 6+ ward and try and reduce a few of the wounds. I think I will be doing up some more saurus along these lines.

yeah and in horde they can attack anyway so no need for spears, just extra points that take away a 6+ save in this edition if your horde them

For LT's list, I would recommend the following:
1. Replacing the 2nd old blood with a scar vet BSB - BSBs were useful before but are essential now.
2. You will want to strip all command off the saurus cav except for the musician so that they can give a look out sir to your characters. Ideally, you should have 7+ rank and file in the unit to absorb casualties and still leave you with 5+ rank and files to leap in front of the cannon ball ;D
3. Skinks - with the range improvement in javelins to 12" and the always stand and shoot, they are too good not to take in greater numbers. I found the skink/krox units with 15 models to be excellent general purpose units during the tourney and they can negate ranks for a brief period until 7 of the skinks die, at which point they lose their 2nd rank. Also, if I had remembered, they are stubborn when fighting lone characters on a dragon since they have more ranks (even the front rank counts as 1!!) and won't flee even when your champ gets totally demolished by the dreadlord/dragon combo - I forgot and used the combat res and fled like a little girl skink!!
4. New Old Blood toolkit - after reviewing the common magic items, the blade of realities just doesn't seem worth it anymore - particularly if the other side has a BSB and gets to re-roll ANY failed LD checks. I was thinking of kitting up an old blood with the armour of fortune (hvy armr with 5+ ward), dawnstone talisman (re-roll failed armour saves) and using the remaining points for a magic weapon (ogre blade for S7 attacks!!). On a cold one, he doesn't need a shield and will have a 0+ re-rollable armour save/5+ ward while on foot a shield gives him 1+ re-rollable. No matter how you slice it, the new common magic items make lizzie characters more formidable than ever!!

yeah i forgot about the bsb for some reason lol i dont have the book yet, so im still using the old weapons, i was thinking the +1 strength no armour saves would be good but S7 would be good also whats the points on the ogre blade?

and the most you can have now is a 1+ armour save which sucks

....unfortunately no 0+ anymore.... BRB says an armor save can never be improved past 1+
But I agree wholeheartedly a BSB should be in every list now... (too bad they're autodestroyed if the unit flees!)

I'll amend the original reply to remove the points mentioned but obviously, all the items listed are within the point limit for a lord. With regard to the armour save, the CRB (since it is colossal and not merely big!), states that a shield cannot improve the armour save beyond 1+. Since the 1+ limit is under the shield rules, this seems only to apply to models using shields and so, ironically, the old blood in question would be restricted to a 1+ save if using a shield. The same issue arises with khorne heralds on juggernaughts having a 0+. For the moment, I think we are best off going with the worst case of 1+ until either common practice or an FAQ clarifies the situation further.

...believe the restriction is individual point costs for items or a single unit ie: vagulf XXX points
however I've seen other sites that regularly have things like "vampire lord with list of powers and items" with a final total price for the character - which appears to be totally fine.... so I think we can do that no problemo...
where we get in potential trouble is Item A costs 25 points and does ________ or anything that can be interpreted as such...
Pg. 43 GRB (gigantic rule book?) - "a model can never have a save of any kind better than 1+ for any reason"
