So, have two builds in mind with information I've been looking at online and what models I want to play with initially. First build doesn't have any psykers while the second does. Here goes :
2000
HQ
Chaos Lord
Sigil of Corruption
Gift of mutation
The Black Mace
Jump pack
Mark of Slaanesh
Warpsmith
Mark of Nurgle
Elite
Helbrute
Reaper Autocannon
Troops
10 Chaos Space marines
1 Plasmagun
1 Autocannon
Icon of Vengeance
Melta bomb
10 Chaos Space marines
9 CCW
2 Meltaguns
Rhino
10 Noise Marines
10 CCW
10 Sonic Blasters
Icon of Excess
Melta bomb
Fast Attack
Hell Drake
7 Warp Talons
Two Gifts of Mutation
Mark of Khorne
Heavy Support
2 Obliterators
Mark of Nurgle
2 Obliterators
Mark of Nurgle
Forgefiend
So this build takes some of the things from the old codex that I liked (with certain upgrades- looking at you T5 obliterators) and adds some of the new models. Even though they're going to eat up a lot of points, the Warp Talons are going to be in every list I play simply because I'm Night Lords and I really like the models. So the Lord will derp around with his fellow Raptor buddies while the Smith will either chill with the CSM unit designed to hold my backfield with their mechanical friends, or he can go with the Noise marines and help hold the mid-field. Has some viable shooting and counter assault elements, though I really don't have too much to handle 2+ armor save- aside from the obliterators... But looks like a lot of fun.
Second build with psykers :
2000
HQ
Sorcerer
Force Axe
Mastery 3
Sigil of Corruption
Gift of mutation
Jump pack
Mark of Tzeentch
Warpsmith
Mark of Nurgle
Troops
10 Chaos Space marines
1 Plasmagun
1 Autocannon
Icon of Vengeance
10 Chaos Space marines
9 CCW
2 Meltaguns
Rhino
10 Thousand Sons
Melta bomb
Rhino
Fast attack
Hell Drake
7 Warp Talons
Two Gifts of Mutation
Mark of Khorne
Heavy support
3 Obliterators
Mark of Nurgle
7 Havocs
4 Autocannons
Forgefiend
This list has some minor changes to it based around my HQ selections' mark effective which cult I can take as a troop, and with the more expensive troop choice I can't afford to swing the Helbrute in this list so am moving points around in the HS slot to fit in some autocannon Havocs to help compensate. This list has less of a close combat pressence but some AP 3 shooting- even less AP 2 though which has me worried, but oh well.
To start with I couldn't fit everything in with all of the upgrades I wanted, there's a lot of opportunity to customize your force- but at a price. The upgrades all add up incredibly fast and make it more difficult to fit almost entire units in once you start going upgrade crazy. It will take a lot of time to get used to balancing it but if the rumor leak is real then it looks like a codex I'll be more then happy to play for years to come.
