Yeah, for a tournament I don't really care about fluff as far as it goes honestly- if it's a fluffy tournament? Sure. But if I'm just trying to win then I'm not going to be too worried about it... They'll be painted Night Lords and that's what I care about primarily.
The Maulerfiends did awesomely, killing a Vindicator right off, drawing fire (including eating overwatch for my infantry squads) and slowly mauling a 10 man terminator unit to 3 dudes (pun intended).
The main reason I'm thinking the helbrutes is for the saturation as you said, and the Lascannons to help me with AV 13 from range as I approach.

ok good if you dont care thats fine.
Yeah I understand your choice of helbrute you dont want all anti-tank to go only on your maulerfiend...

I suppose if you had open Heavy slots you wouldn't need the Hellbrutes eh?

This is what I'm testing this saturday. I'll have to proxy a few of the things (as I don't own a second dragon yet, need to buy some of the stuff- but if the test goes well then I will be)
2010 Points
HQ
Chaos Lord Mark of Khorne Axe of Blind Fury Gift of Mutation Sigil of Corruption Vet of the Long War Juggernaut of Khorne
Ahriman
Troops
15 Cultists 15 Cultists 9 TKsons (Force Axe) in a Rhino (Dirge caster) 10 Chaos Space marines (2 Plasmaguns, Combi-plasma, Vets of the long war) in a Rhino
Fast attack 5 Chaos Spawn Heldrake (Baleflamer) Heldrake (Baleflamer)
Heavy support 2 Obliterators (Mark of Nurgle) 2 Obliterators (Mark of Nurgle) 8 Havocs (4 Autocannons)
Gonna be feeling out the best lord delivery system and testing out Ahriman to see how the big dog does. Upping the Cultist sizes so I can just start them on the board in cover... and gonna try closer to what I want my army to do for a tournament.

I like it... it's gonna be rough for my poor nids, but I still like it...

Yeah, after sitting down with the book more and thinking about my games thus far with the new Chaos codex, it really is an infantry driven codex which is cool. The Black Mace really only works with a smash attack from a demon prince, the AP 4 really just hurts the lord too much so I opted for the Axe. I'm testing the Jugg, though I'm not necessarily sold on it- could always just go with JP and some Warp talons or a bike and a bike squad, but the new spawn really seem like a neat meat shield style approach to the lord delivery. 150 points for 15 wounds isn't too shabby and if any are still around they can still do some damage.
If Ahriman doesn't wind up worth it I'll likely go to a normal CSM squad, and the Warpsmith with MoK and a Khorne CSM unit in a rhino again, using the extra points to add an extra oblit to each squad.

With 2x Baleflamers and TKSons, that's a whole lotta scary AP3.
I think the Chaos Spawn + the Lord on Juggy will work very well. Especially if you model them appropriately.
Haven you considered dropping a body or 2 from the Havocs for a MoN? It might help them survive torrent a little better than the extra wounds.

If I downgrade the CSM squad to double melta I can fit the MoN change in for the havocs, still feeling that out though if the autocannons are really worth it or not. If the STR 7 just doesn't seem worth it double Forgefiend might be in the works.

Well, I don't know how much Obilts are, but wouldn't 2 of them be pretty close to a flat swap for a FF? Nevermind. I was thinking Maulerfiend.
Just FYI, I've got lots of Str 7 and I find it really really useful. But I'm also not packing Lascannons like you are.

Tooling with a way to get more actual space marines into the list... here's the newest version
HQ
Sorcerer Mastery 3 Force Axe Mark of Tzeentch Sigil of Corruption Spell familiar
Chaos Lord Mark of Khorne Axe of Blinding Rage Sigil of Corruption Veteran of the Long War Gift of Mutation Juggernaut
Troops
15 Cultists 10 Chaos Space Marines (2 Meltaguns, Combi-melta, Vets of the long war) in a rhino 10 Chaos Space Marines (2 Plasmaguns, Combi-plasma, Vets of the long war) in a rhino 9 Thousand Sons (Asp. Sorc w/ Force Axe)
Fast attack 5 Chaos Spawn Heldrake (baleflamer) Heldrake (baleflamer)
Heavy support 2 Obliterators 2 Obliterators 2 Obliterators
Dropped Ahriman to a Mastery 3 Sorc, the way I see it I'll be giving up a mastery level for a 3+ invul, AP 2 and Spell familiar... seems legit and cheaper. Drop the rhino from the TK sons unit, 15 cultists and the nurgle mark on the oblits to swap the havocs out for another two oblits and swap said cultist unit out for another unit of CSM in a rhino. Overall I'm liking more where this is going and I'm going to be using Mutilator models for the Chaos Spawn so it'll be super sweet.
