Figured I'd post the list that I'm currently working towards and see if I can't get some feedback (didn't get much on my previous attempts) Main Force is, of course, Dark Eldar with Eldar Allies MainHQVect Troops10 Warriors - Splintercannon - Raider -- Nightshield --Splinter racks (X4) HeavyRavager (3 Dark Lances) - Nightshield (x2) Voidraven Bomber - Flickerfield AlliesHQEldrad Troop10 Rangers Heavy 3 Warwalkers (x2 Scatter Lasers) Now my questions are: First, does this list cover enough bases to be at least semi-competitive at this point? Second, is it better to keep Eldrad with his standard powers or is taking Divination better since it gives him access to powers that can effect all the units instead of only the Rangers/Walkers? Third, I have 120pts left over to still work with and I'm wondering which would be my best option below? 1) Take the crutch of an Aegis Defline with Quadgun and put 2 Shattershard Missiles on the Voidraven (S7 AP-, re-roll to wound) This would add to my anti-dragon support, give the Rangers some decent cover, and also give the Voidraven some extra anti-tank/inf power 2) 5 Harlies + Shadowseer. These I would attach to Vect to give him some better back-up, and it also fits better from a background stand-point 3) 5 Reaver Jetbikes with Areanchamp/5 Eldar Jetbikes with Shuriken Cannon. The Reavers would be a harassment unit and potential objective grabber in some missions. The Eldar bikes could be a late turn objective grabbed. 4) 5 Trueborn with 2 Darklances and a Dracon with Venomblade. Again a unit for Vect to join which gives him a scapegoat for challenges if needed, and also adds a little more anti-tank. I'll leave it at that for now and see if I can't get some suggestions from our local experts (which is pretty everyone else since I've still only got 1 game in so far).

Form the Bro-Star. Harlies + Vect + Eldrad. it's like megazord but with elves.
Downside is they would need to be on foot. but that's not really a big deal with you get rerollable awesomeness.

For this Saturday, since I have the extra 12 points to play with and it works out to be exactly how many points I have left over I'm going to try running 6 Reavers this Saturday and see how that goes. Now I realize that I haven't been able to be active in the community, other than on the forum, but any comments and suggestions would be appreciated. It is my intention (and hope) to start making it down, at least, on a Bi-weekly basis and hopefully can work my way back into the community (which I seem to have been become an outsider in due to my not physically being there in the past while if the lack of response to most of my army list posts has shown) I miss seeing & playing with you guys Plus, the fact that I'm actually attempting to get things painted means I should soon have more than one painted army and I can actually start trying out some of my other ones

it will be good to see you there, i don't think i have ever actually played you lol. Yes you did. I played you in the one tournament against your GKs. It was the game your Dreadknight made over 15 saves against pretty much my entire army shooting at it It was the same game your Vindicare failed 3 2+ cover saves on the 1st turn.

hey Randy glad that you will be back. If Im not commenting is because Im not a DE expert and most of the time when I play them its against venom spam.
The only think I can tell you from a previous conversation with Tom is that a regular Archon will be better then Vect because Vect is AP3 and Archon AP2 and cheaper...

I know AP2 is all the rage with 6th, but I just figured I had to run Vect with Eldrad at least 1 tournament Also, since I didn't add any solid CC to the list, I felt a regular Archon wouldn't add as much as Vect was to the overall army. I'm pretty sure this list will change after this weekend. As you said, right now Tom's Venom-heavy Dark Eldar is all anyone has really seen & tried out. I'm hoping to find something that works just as well but doesn't require me having to a) buy a bunch of new models and b) copy what Tom's playing

yeah its always by playing that you will see what works and whats not. For example with my marine I tough an Aegis Line and being gunline would work but it was terrible...

Well Randy, since I am the foremost dark eldar expert here, I figured I should wade in with some advice. First off, dark eldar hate Eldrad. He is widely regarded as a douche by the entire dark eldar race and therefore if you bring him your own troops are required to fire all weaponry upon him turn one. They must continue to do so until he is slain (pg. 143 of the dark eldar codex under "slay the douche" special rule) warwalkers are only good against 99% of the armies in 40k, and with the eldar psychic powers, this does increase this by 21% of course (reaching chuck norris proportions of 120% awesome) however see "slay the douche" special rule above, which would mean that there are still 1% of armies which you wouldn't have full effectiveness against, so you should drop them immediately. Bring one of those big monstrous creature things to assault Eldrad first turn. That should get him. flyers, dark lances and splinter racks would make you feel too mean if you fight any tyranid players, so you should substitute foot warriors instead with no special weapons. Avoid cover like the plague, as flamers ignore it anyways. Your standard armor save should be protection enough. You never see bolters anymore, people have gone almost exclusively to S3 hand flamers. Nightshields make people want to get closer to you. Dark Eldar don't like this, given they're more into hiding in shadowy places and whipping themselves (Pg. 132 "who's your daddy" special rule). Therefore you should drop the nightshields so that people stay back and shoot you from afar, allowing you to have more "alone time". Also you mentioned trying out reavers as a sexual harassment unit. People don't like being harassed in this manner, and this might result in complaints made against you, and people crying out "I need an adult" when they play you. Other than the above advice, I cannot think of any changes my vast dark eldar experience could lend you. In other news, it's a slow day at work.

Did GW do another "2nd Edition" of the Dark Eldar codex like last time? Mine seems to be missing that page you referenced for "Slay the douche" ;D As for the comment on Reavers....at least I won't be offering them candy and ride in my windowless white van to make it worse
Thanks for the reply. That got me laughing pretty hard.

I think I just soiled myself. I'm still debating if this or his "Least Competitive Tyranids List" is funnier...

So I've put some thought into a slightly modified version of the list I ran for the Tournament since I now have a better idea how my units work and how 6th plays out.
Main
HQ
Haemonculus with Liquifier gun
Troops
10 Warriors - Splintercannon - Raider -- Flickerfields --Splinter racks (X3)
9 Wyches - Hekatrix -- Phantasm Grenade Launcher (gives Defensive Grenades) -- Venomblade - Raider -- Flickerfield
10 Wracks - 2 Liquifier guns - Acothyst -- Scissorhands
Fast Attack
6 Reaver Jetbikes
Heavy
Ravager (3 Dark Lances) - Flickerfield (x2)
Razorwing Fighter - 2 Dark Lances - 4 Monosythe Missles - Flickerfield
Allies
HQ
Eldrad
Troop
10 Rangers
Heavy
3 Warwalkers (x2 Scatter Lasers)
So I've dropped Vect (wasn't really adding all that much to the army) and added the Wyches & Wracks which get me a 6th scoring unit that can camp a home objective and a dedicated CC unit that can help with vehicles and taking enemy objectives.
I also swapped the Voidraven for the Razorwing since it will give me more versatility since the Voidraven really didn't do all that much in any of my games. I kept the Dark Lances so that it can still be a threat to other Flyers
I've also swapped Night Shields for Flickerfields since the Nightshields don't protect me from the stuff that is usually shooting down my Raiders/Ravagers, but also I actually lost more vehicles to CC than shooting over the 3 games so the 5+ Invul from Flickerfields may prove more useful
