Looking at Rebooting the Scars for Feb. by cutting some chaff and trying to fill some holes in. I found I struggled mightily against hordes and big monstrous creatures, so I thought I'd try to add in some additional bodies and firepower with a cheap bit of Guard allies over the Assault Squad and Predator that I found to basically be chaff. So it would end up looking like this:
Captain on Bike, Artifacer, TH/SS,
Command Squad Company Champ w/ Lance, 3xStorm Shield, 2xPower Lance, Power Fist
Troops
Bikes x 8, 2 Plasma, Lance&Melta Bomb Attack Bike, Multi-Melta
Bikes x 8, 2 Plasma, Lance & MeltaBombs Attack Bike, Multi-Melta
Bikes x 3 2 x Melta, Combi-Melta, Multi-Melta AB
Fast:
Stormtalon, Missiles
2 x Typhoons
Allied Contingent, Imperial Guard:
HQ:
CCS, 4 x Sniper Rifles
Troops:
PCS, 3 x Sniper Rifles
4 x Guard Squad, 4 x Flamer
Alternatively I could drop the Sniper Rifles on the PCS and one in the CCS and put Autocannons in the Troop units instead of flamers. I know that didn't work out for Ray because of how static the unit was, but I feel like I'd have a TON more up field pressure than most with the big blocks of bikes. That much in your face T5 might be enough to ward things away from that big blob-o-guard.
Alternatively I could add in two 10 man Marine squads with the free upgrades, or add in two flamers to the Assault Marines and keep them, while adding in a multi-melta or dual HF landspeeder to soak damage for the Typhoons.
I could also consider Sternguard with 2 Heavy Flamers and Combi-Flamers in a Drop Pod.....pretty effective against both MC's and Hordes.

I'm thinking the autocannons on the guard blob may be more useful throughout the game... you're not going to be sitting back and waiting for the enemy to get close, you're pretty in your face with those bikes... so the flamers may be sitting around wasted all game...
pretty much if you blob is using the flamers, you'd have to ask yourself what happened so badly that the enemy got through all your bikes? and at that point are four flamers going to make a difference?
I'd go autocannons to add some fairly decent covering fire for your bikes, and add to the pressure against MC's
since you're adding in IG anyways, wouldn't a Vendetta be a better choice than the talon for cheaper? (scratch this if you own a talon and Not a Vendetta of course!)

what Shannon said + I would put flamers on my big bike squad instead of plasma. I know everyone loves plasma here but I think flamers are way better...

Unsure what you own but if horde r a concern what about whirlwinds, vindicators or a LRBT

Owning the Talon and not the Vendetta is exactly the issue there Shannon! I don't use the Guard enough to put any money into stuff for them ATM, especially given that I'm probably going to get sucked into getting a few Ravenwing things when DA comes out.
An LRBT is totally an option on the other hand, though it would require dropping something else...

What I'm seeing here, is that you've gone to guard and paid a ton of points for, and given up survivability, for basically what you could get from a unit or two of scouts...
With my experience with the blob, believe it or not, I actually liked the static blob with a mountain of autocannons just pounding targets into the ground, The problem I had with it was the rest of my list wasn't mobile enough to let the blob be that static.
In my experience there's really 2 "standard" ways to outfit a blob, (and several available tweaks depending on the list)
Midfield Blob - Flamers, Power Axes, Krak Grenades, Melta Bombs, Commissar
Backfield Blob - Auto/Lascannons, Grenade Launchers, Commissar
The reason I think this, is because the blob is a deceptive unit. On the surface, it looks very cheap, however that's because it's very very basic. Unless you plan on just shooting volley after volley of lasguns, you NEED to give it some tools. The Blob is all about cheap expendable wounds, and for it to work, you have to be able to do damage to your opponent while maintaining some sort of Ld Bonus (Stubborn, ATSKNF, Fearless). Your blob has neither of those abilities atm, which makes it basically just a big block of chaff that your opponents will mostly ignore.
I know the marine half of the list is white scars, and I'm by no means well read in fluff, so I have no idea if any of these ideas are viable.
2x (maybe 6-8) Sternguard in Drop Pods, perhaps equipped with 2-3 combi-flamers (since their special ammo is already awesome enough for other tasks)
Bumping the 3rd bike squad to full, and adding 2 more typhoons.
Pair of Vindicators or a Single Vindicator and 2 Whirlwinds
Pair of Infiltrating Scout Units with Sniper Rifles/Cloaks/ML and a Tech Marine for the Command Squad
Pedro & a Full Sternguard Unit in a Pod (so they score) with a crapload of combi-flamers
Vanguard Veterans Squad instead of Assault Marines, so you can DS in off your bikes squad bacons into assault (yes I said bacon on purpose)
Just ideas I came up with looking at the vanilla dex in army builder.

I like basically all those ideas Ray, and have come up with a number of them myself (see above)....at this point one of the big issues is just GETTING the stuff I need in time for Feb. Assuming no one will care if I use basic marines as Sternguard assuming I do a bit of conversion, I can probably swing getting a pod, but with the holidays eating money and screwing with pay schedules I won't get cash until the 20th, and even then I can't exactly drop 150 bucks on Warhammer.
I DO need to find a way to get that commissar into the blob though. Maybe just say the hell with the snipers and buy one?

Well, since you already own the ASM, simply using them as VV wouldn't take a whole lot of effort.

Issue with that is that Bikers don't have Teleport homers, just Scout bikes, who otherwise are pretty terrible.
I'm thinking about trading out the Plasma in one squad for flamers...that horde of Nids just caused me so many problems that a couple flamers would have fixed.
