That Salvo banner would be HUGE in my list. Plus I seem to want about 15 more bikes.....my poor money holder!

Take a look at what he faced tho. Several of those armies are static gunlines, with all that mobility I'm not surprised he rick-rolled them! +1 to 6th ed for Mobility as King! All Hail Mobility!
Not to de-value the results of that report, Reading the synopsis of some of those battles, it sounds like several of those players were not aware of the alpha strike potential of the bolter banner on bikes either.
I definitely think buying a DA codex is in your future Matt.

The Banner makes all Bolters within 12" (I think) Salvo 2/4 Instead of Rapid Fire. Combined with Being Relentless on Bikes and Scout moves, means you can move 12" up before the game starts, move 12" on your turn, and then Salvo 4 Bolter your opponent Turn 1. With that many bikes that makes 160+ TL bolter shots on turn 1. Absolutely devastating alpha strike against any foot list.
However, If they don't get Turn 1, or you deploy with LOS blocking or use mechanized troops, you can hard-counter this 1 trick pony.
I still believe the bolter banner is good and can be used very well in a balanced list, but the alpha strike lists cropping up around the Net are just moronic imo.

lol... yep... as I said in the helldrake thread, there's a number of changes/updates that are bringing the pendulum back to transports and mech being more prevalent again, the helldrake and resulting FAQ being the first... then the new DA banner...
just wait til the new daemon codex.... mark my words, don't get rid of your rhinos....!

Maybe I'll have to drop an assault squad to mount up the Vanilla Marines.....won't give me a full Company though...
Yeah, I totally wouldn't just copy that list, but with very minimal changes to what I run (dropping the Talon for a Libby on bike and switching my Command squad for Ravenwing, dropping a speeder or two for Knights) I think I'd be pretty happy with it. Gonna pick that book up sooner rather than later, though I'm pretty sure I'm just going to run Codex Bikers for the tourney because I've got them ready and I don't want to have to do up Sammael, a Libby and a couple extra squads.
