trying out some possible allied combinations here that looks good on paper CSM HQ
chaos lord mark of nurgle power fist, combi flamer aura of dark glory jump pack, granades, melta bombs, veterans of the war

fast 2 destroyers with a heavy destroyer (lord hangs here)

destroyers and doom scythes takes out vehicles, nurgle marines tarpits stuff and claims objectives, raptors and lord targets squishy parts, and the immortals drop down last turn to contest.

destroyer lords don't take staffs of light... warscythes are free and WAY better... also a destroyer lord is close combat while destroyers are terrible at close combat and want to be shooting instead... destroyers want to be shooting a different target than the heavy destroyer.... mixing them is not good.... the necron allied list is just not good... if you want them for ranged support lose the destroyer lord AND the destroyers... lose all that to get a lord and a couple haywire crypteks... change the immortals to warriors (cheaper) and get another unit of warriors with a scythe.... there's zero point using immortals to contest at the last minute when warriors do the same thing for cheaper... now for the CSM.... your plague marine units are too expensive... lose alot of the tagged on upgrades to get another unit with rhino... Not liking the lord with raptors with the rest of your list... makes very easy target priority for all your opponent's anti-infantry (all at that unit) and low AP templates (ditto), while the anti-tank only has to deal with three rhinos... unless you're keeping the destroyer lord and destroyers which also will die the same turn doom scythe won't be on the board turn one, and anything the heavy destroyer wants to shoot the destroyers won't be any good against (ie: anything better than an Ork Trukk) so it's not effective anti-tank and is easily countered... necron allies are normally to either do the Immotek tricks or add some flyers in and drop scoring... or both... they should be adding something to the list that your CSM don't have... CSM already have an excellent flyer in the helldrake, and better long range anti-tank (oblits) and can get cheap backfield scoring to have your plague marines pushing to the opposing objectives... my two cents for what it's worth

Can't join the lord with a differently marked unit, it's right there on the first page of the rules section of the codex.
For once I'd like to see someone not ally Necrons for max flyers. =\ But Shannon's point are solid if that's what you want to do. If you're putting PF on the sergeants (Which I'd strongly suggest against) don't take MB, or the other way around to keep em cheap- MB and no PF. The Icon of despair is a terrible waste of points by the way as 75% of the game is immune to fear.

well IF you're bringing Necrons they need to do something... he had 80% of the necrons as flyers, so I assumed that's what he'd want them for... not everyone likes necrons without flyers like me
