here is an idea for a tau army one of two i have formulating in my head anyway. id just need shadow sun an to fix some of my crisis suits
Hq:
shadow sun with 2 shield drones
Fireblades
Elite:
3 crisis suits bonding knife, 3 tl fusion blasters and 3 flamers
6 stealth suits with burst cannons and counterfire defence systems
Troops:
12 fire warriors
5 x 8 man fire warrior squads
2 d fish with smart missiles and d pods
Fast:
3 x 8 man pathfinders
Heavy:
2 broadsides with sky fire
Hammer head with ion cannon and smart missiles
hammer head with ion cannon and smart missiles
Fordification
aegis line with quad gun
so comes to 2051 points
fire blades on the quad gun in the defence line with the large unit of fire warriors. Shadowsun and is with the crisis suits to make up a super mobile hard to kill melta unit. The large unit of stealth suits can get 24 burst cannon shots and can over watch at bs 2. they will move around but stay close to the defence line as to help the fire warriors stay alive. Two warriors squads will start in their fish for moving forward durning objectives missions but other then that they will hide and shoot, but keep mobile. pathfinders will pretty much stay put and marker light stuff. and broad sides and quad gun are there for anti transports and anti flyers. ion cannons for marines
but what to cut for the 51 points, could take the quad gun and anything else, or one pathfinder from each of the units and 23 more points, sujestions?
also what do you think of the idea? does a stealth and shrouding 3d6 move in the assault phase melta unit seem like a good idea?

I'd honestly drop the quad gun... you have skyfire from other sources... looks solid for sure....

Well, for starts, you can save a few points on the Crisis suits by removing the BKR. Since it's only for regrouping, and since they can never be at below 25% you're worry free there.
Also not convinced you need the SMS on the Devil-fish. After all, the gun-drones have the same number of shots and you've got plenty of Str-5 shots elsewhere.
Lastly, don't really need more Str-7 as your Ionheads got that covered. So quad gun can go too.

Well, you need to lose the points somewhere, and I suggest losing toys before losing boys in all honesty.

I agree, drop the quad gun, keep the aegis. I'm not sure how other people feel about going over, but if its 1 point, I can't see anyone caring about it.

Yeah, the Quad and the Knives are the things to drop for sure. Looks like a very strong list.
Only thing I'm wondering is if the FWs should be combined a into slightly larger units (4x10 instead of 5x8), since then it requires your opponent to kill 3 to force a ld check instead of just 2.
Looking forward to playing against this, I'd like to see what the new Tau can do!
