Had this come up in a friendly just want to clarify. #1 If multiple units charge a unit the unit receiving can only fire at one? #2 If they don't fire at the first then are they in CC so therefore can't fire at the rest? If that is correct I think small to midsized units of harpies could be great buddies for expensive fragile units (yes you juggers). Was able to use them well in some fantasy games in a similar role. My god I love -1 to hit :-).

yes they have to fire at the first one so your fury will take the hit

Anyone else seeing that as a good use?

Yep that will work against anyone but tau lol. But yes lots of people use cheaper units to assault first. Like gaunts and such.

Tau have supporting fire. A Tau only USR which lets any units with if I recall correctly 6" overwatch.
So, unit A is being charged, but since unit B C and D are nearby they can all overwatch as well. Except, they can shoot at the second unit to charge, or the third. Though they only get one phase of overwatch shooting.
The special character Longstrike however, gets to overwatch as many times as possible in his Hammerhead.

It'll work if you're charging, not getting shot at from 24'' or more. A great idea for fantasy, but overwatch isn't the real kind of shooting to be worried about in 40k... Those juggernauts will die before they can even take advantage of your furies charging.

Yeah I'm not really seeing a useful function for furies.. if you want a cheap harassing unit with rending, deep strike a small squad of daemonettes in the back field to harass.. they're still pretty fast with fleet, and on the charge are dealing 30 rending attacks... you'd need 15 furies to do that... the furies cost you 35 more points, have less WS and initiative and five less leadership in case you lose combat... and the daemonettes are scoring...

40 k I only have that one use but in fantasy they are so versatile: 70 pts Extra drops Chaff killer Redirector Mini tarpit vs non elitess ie nurgle Speed bumps Khorne ones can actually kill some higher point models. Again system difference but fantasy I would almost always have 2 units of 5 and would go up to 4

Tzeentch gun line. Hide behind your bigger units jump over/ charge to buy more time or allow chariots to swing into flanks. Yes thinking now that mono tzeentch could fly.
