I'm going to watch the Microsoft coverage in hopes that they'll pop their heads out of their collective arses and figure out that people don't want a game system that...
-listens to every word you say -gives achievements for watching tv -is seemingly geared all for tv and not as a gaming platform -runs solely on windows 8 -runs solely on windows 8 -"is seamlessly integrated with your tv" but can't have cable input thus still requiring you to have a cable box -needs internet connecttivity to load certain games (not just online only games either, some single player as well) Oh, and did I mention that even when the console is off, the kinect is always on, waiting, listening and plotting its revenge on humanity?
So this turned into a bit more of a rant than I had wanted it to, however, I do feel that Microsoft is going to design themselves out of the console market, people just want a game system that... plays games. Yeah some connectivity bells and whistles are nice but spending time to put in voice commands so you don't have to pick up a remote to change inputs on your tv is just inspiring laziness. I'm still reserving final judgement until E3, but I fear microsoft may have lost my business if the Xbox 1 doesn't have some slick tricks up it's sleeves.

kinect = terminator?
any computer device that you can't turn off and watches you sneakily is a prelude to terminators...

Half of the EU has openly said they'd ban the Xbox 1 if Microsoft doesn't change anything about its listening as it violates privacy laws.

Well, the Microsoft press conference has come and gone, shiny new games were shown, cool new technology was talked about except for…. The Xbox One. The biggest mention they made (besides the name) is the price, retailing for $499 US. Aside from that they still haven’t answered a plethora of questions regarding the mysterybox. So I still have no idea as to the tech specs, whether or not it’ll require internet connectivity to play a game (yes, ANY game), and the state of affairs that is the used/ loaner game market. I do know it still looks like a 1980's VCR and now apparently you can tell the Kinect to turn off as well so it's not always listening. Small victories I guess.
